    Phuket - Safe means?

Happened on this. Phuket Readers' poll results: Phuket is safe

PHUKET: Phuket is a safe place to visit or live, a majority of Phuket Gazette readers believe.

A recent Gazette readers’ poll asked the question:

“All things considered, do you think Phuket is a safe place to visit and live?”

Overall, just under 63% of the people who took part answered that Phuket is “very safe” or “fairly safe”, compared to about 37% who responded that it was “not very safe” or “very unsafe”.

The most common reply was “fairly safe”, which was chosen by 46.3% overall.

Only 10.7% of the respondents overall thought Phuket was “very unsafe”.

In a breakdown by demographic, those who identified themselves as “tourists” or “visitors” were the most likely to view Phuket as a safe place to live or visit.

Seventy per cent of tourists answered that Phuket was “very safe” or “fairly safe” compared to just 30% who thought is was “not very safe” or “very unsafe”.

A clear majority of local foreign residents (60%) and Thais (58%) also answered that Phuket is “fairly safe” or “very safe”.

Thais were most likely to think Phuket was “very unsafe” (14%), followed by local foreign residents (12%) and tourists (7%).

A total of 835 readers voted in the two-week poll, which ran from February 10 to February 24.

This poll is not scientific and reflects the opinions of only those who have chosen to participate in it. The results cannot be assumed to represent the opinions of the public as a whole, or of Thais, resident foreigners, or foreign tourists generally.
    Says it all.

Spread the word; Phuket is a crime-ridden, tourist scamming shithole.

It's only natural the Gazette would like to prove otherwise, surely they depend on the expats for their business.

I think you are so right there; propaganda - expats to buy their newspaper, expats to fund it with advertising
