Looking for homestay Isaan

As you may know form another post, I'm preparing a trip through the Isaan. Part of the route will be determined by accomodation, allthough I certainly don't want to prebook all accomocation and lose flexibility.

As we believe that homestays (not menaning guesthouses) are fun and a slightly shrewed way to educate the kids a bit, I'm also looking for a homestay in the Isaan region to spend a couple of days.

Tips anyone?

Isaan is a big place, loads of them.
Korat has one we looked through (but didnt stay) at Ban Prasat that looked good. Ban Prasat Archaeological Site

Hope i am allowed to post this link on here? This is the only homestay i have looked through, others can probably shed some more advice, do know much more than me and some of them live there. but again, big place Isaan and depends what you want to see. This one is not far from Phi Mai.

there is a homestay in bua yai, north korat, i couldn,t give you much detail but i have seen it on tinternet, google it, it looks nice and has had recommendations. i live in bua yai myself but struggle to keep myself occupied and have never met the owners

partnah, a little dose of reality for you.
A real home stay will give you a bad day. Outdoor toilet for you and your kids,
Mosquitoes up the gazoo and a net if you are lucky at night.
A plastic woven mat and a hand made polyester blanket for your bed on a wooden floor,
Sticky rice 4 times a day to eat and anything else that crawls by or can be found in a tree.
Now that is a real, authentic homestay and it ain't the Ritz.
a more commercial, dude ranch type will better serve you.
If you want the real thing, I can arrange it but don't rec. it.

There's loads of small resort type places which offer so much more.

The second one refers to "Thailand Standard Homestay" - we're a long way from Isaan, but have seen several places with a TSH sign outside, modern style homes, look fine to me. Here's an example of one near us Thamai Farm & Home Stay

OK, I'll make a slight amendment. We are looking for a homestay-ish place, but there is no need for the cheapest or most rural experience in the world. I guess we are looking for a small family run place, without to many rooms, but with beds, mosquitonets etc.. We do like hot water, but stayed at homestays in Malaysia without that amenity. Some English spoken is also a big advantage.

But tips for small resort style places are also very welcome.

Suggest you be more specific if you want real advice.You can get accom almost anywhere with or without booking.Just determine your route after looking up the type of area you want to visit and then I am sure you will get loads of information you can use.

Via Chantaburi to Phanom Rung (via Sa Kaew?).
Then Phimai (via Khorat?)

Not sure what then?

Via Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Nong Khai

And then? Vientiane? Or on to North Thailand via?

There is a well known one in Nong kai right on the river, actually a bit out of Nong kai about 300 a night a think when we were there.
