Lots and lots cheaper.
Lots and lots cheaper.
My friend wanted to export some to the uk but i am not sure if he has done any home work on this, anyone know how to do this?
I think there is a Kiwi guy exporting VFR & RVF400's to the UK, he has a website but buggered if I can find it. There is also the good guys at Tyga performance in Pattaya that do a similar thing with NSR's etc. I dunno that anyone exports big bikes, not much point as these bikes come from Japan anyway, you would buy them direct and export them from there but of couse our little Japanesey friends don't allow this. The Little CBR 150 sells here for roughly half the UK price, but they build them here with slightly different spec so they don't comply with EC regs. Maybe it can be got around, the guy from Expat motors exports Vigo's etc. The Japs defend feircely (?) their right to rip off the poms by selling at outrageous margins. Go 4 it I say.
Bikes in Europe of the same age are comparable price. If they are legally registered here. Otherwise they can be cheaper, however you ain't gonna export a bike without a book.
Unless you are heading into the really old category then they start to get a bit more out of sync.
a 2000 VFR for 3500 quid is not too bad.
Legal imports through the proper routes are seriously expensive
Ducati 999 3million dead.
The CBR 150 is too large displacement for the UK it is limited to 125 for learner bikes although I hav heard of people swapping the 125 cylinders into them and then chaninging them after the MOT thingy.
A Honda CBR400cc in UK can be upto 2k for a good example. The same price or their abouts at Redbaron.
An OK one here can be 70k not a big difference considerning they only have had to get here from Japan which isn't that far away.
Depends on the bike and depends on where you come from for this statement to be true.Originally Posted by ChiangMai noon

The black bike is a Honda Valkyrie. Cool ride, even has a reverse that runs off the starter!

Thanks for the link, there are some beautys on there,
I think most of them are 2000cc. They were only made for 2 or 3 years. They are a bit of cult item now. Kind of the ultimate heavyweight production bike.
The other cool big bike which is a sleeper is the big Suzuki intruder

Heres a picture of Thaicoons fat guts after coming off his bike doing about 100klm/h due to a oil leak. But being the ledgend he is we chucked him and his bike on a pick up with a few cans of chang and by the time we got to Pattaya he was fighting fit again and I mean fighting fit just ask the guy that wouldn,t shut the fuck up at one of the bars
Thaicoon gave him a little well deserved rest on the floor
Cool ...
One thing about it lost some of the beer belly, and nearly my leg, those crash bars saved it, do not want to slide down a concrete central reservation at 100 clicks again.Originally Posted by Rigger
A friend of mine rented an R1 in Pattaya, being a show off he flipped off some wheelies on beach road in 2nd gear. Having changed to first because of traffic he then flipped another wheelie and revved too much. He slipped off the bike and nearly ripped his toes off and had to have skin graffs on his legs.
^ Geng mak!
Fip, have to agree with MtD on this one as your friend sounds like a real smart one. They rent those bikes really cheap because they make their real money off these nutters when they wreck. I bet he was riding with slippers and shorts also, real smart cookie.
^ I didn't know you were into Sporties, Rigger.
