Three arrived at Honda dealer near us on Saturday, all pre-sold to uni students seems they've taken over from the Kawasaki KSR110 as the minibike to own.
    Better suited to a 165cm, 50kg rider.
Even then, limited to carry a small pillion; don't think (or hope) we'll see any lard-assed farang and his partner getting around on one.

    A US review here
    From the link you posted:

The ergonomics are relaxed and there is ample room. I’m 6-feet tall, 185 lbs., and fit nicely. It’s true. The very firm seat allowed me to position my posterior exactly where I wanted it to get me all the room I needed to the handlebars as well as the foot pegs. This is no mini-bike and there is room for just about anyone. With a seat height claimed at 29.7 inches the Grom fits most.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

That's what they told my wife when she called to ask about the red one we ordered- they said they got one in yellow, but it's already reserved- it could be a misunderstanding, but I never mentioned that color to her, so they had to have specifically said 'yellow'- I'll find out for sure in a couple of days if I ride by the dealership.

Her friend is buying a 'Zoomer' and they went to the dealership and ordered the bikes at the same time last week- if that comes in yellow, it's possible my wife confused the two- she knows nothing about bikes.

I hope a friggin' Zoomer with my name on it doesn't show up next week...

Sweet. At least you'll have skateboard storage.

I will still be waiting a bit before I buy, so maybe the bumblebee color will be available by then.

We thought about buying one, so I designed how I would have it.

One good reason for owning one of these little runabouts is that they are about $1000 LESS in Thailand than in the US. This is just the opposite for a bike like the Kawasaki er6n that is 250,000 baht in Thailand and the equivalent of about 161,169 baht in the US. This to me, is a pretty big difference.

Is this price difference due to taxes, or because one is 125cc and the other is 650cc?

They're made in Thailand and are under 200cc, so they're not subject to the same taxes as bigger bikes that are imported- bikes bigger than 200cc and/or bikes made outside of Thailand are taxed differently.

The Honda 500X looks close in price between Thailand and US. It must be made in Thailand as well to be that close. Only a little over $600 difference while the Kawasaki er6n is about $2865 difference between Thailand and the US.

Yes, the new Honda 500cc line-up is made in Thailand (or at least assembled here)- the new Ducati supermotos (except for the highest-spec version, I believe) are made here as well, as are several other bikes.

FS, this will need to be your thread once you get your MSX125. I will be interested in what you have to say about it. Still one of the better deals in Thailand.

It was supposed to have been delivered yesterday (though botched bike deliveries are a specialty of mine) but it didn't come in (though the yellow Zoomer did)- the red is back-ordered- if they don't have it by next Wednesday, I'll probably take a white one.

The white is nice and will probably get one if the yellow is not available by next year.

I'm replacing a white Wave with the MSX-125 and I'd like something different- the red looks good on it, but so do the other colors- the black is too close to my other bike and I want some contrast. If I put gold components on it (BB's favorite) they'll also look better on a red bike than a white one.

No. I'd get the stickers made independently.

After all the BS taxes you pay in the US, the 500s are probably the same here.

I have found Honda to be close in price between Thailand and the US. Does that also hold for the UK?

    With regard to what?

Triumphs are cheaper I heard. I think Aston Martins might be too.

Was the price you paid for your Honda 500F close to the price you would have paid in the UK?

Don't you have Google or XE.com over there?

    *Edit

In the UK the 500F is about 240,000THB (£4800)

It was delivered over a year ago- I've had it in my possession since before Songkran as I previously noted (since then my FiL has sourced two more for other people, so it sounds like they're not that rare anymore)- I'm not posting pics as I really don't want to hear from the TD peanut gallery regarding what I've done to it ('pearls before swine' and all that, plus it's too easy to identify as I've got a company logo on it, and I value my anonymity)- I'll post pics of the 125 when I get it, though.

Only 3 coloured bits, surely not much trouble to get it sprayed.
