Hi All,
My car is registered in Bangkok and it runs out the end of May. I now live "up-country" so can I renew it here or do I have to go to the Big Mango to do it! I think I know the answer but hope I am wrong !!
Cheers TP

We live in a small village way up north.
We were pleased to discover a bloke who, for a small fee, collects peoples car docs and goes off to get them done in bulk.
A couple of day turn around. Worked well for the last few years.
You might ask around for someone similar.
We bought our car in Bangkok and have no problem re-registering it in Roi Et, still has the Bangkok plates. Should be the same for you one would think?
Yes that is right you can the little man around your village who look after these this for every body
You should have no problem getting your registration renewed locally. We originally got ours in Chumpae now we do it in Udon Thani.
I think if you go to the local province license office you will be able to register it anew, but only if the current registration has not expired. We bought in Pattaya and tried to transfer to Sakon Nakhon but since the registration was overdue by a couple days wife had to make a trip to Pattaya and renew it there. We were then able to transfer the registration to Sakon Nakhon.
Thanks Guys for the replies.
Another question as a follow on...long far in advance can you renew it?
Cheers, TP
You can usually have the folks who you buy the insurance from take care of the tax/registration. They usually charge about 200 baht service fee.
If it's an older vehicle you'll also need an inspection document. Your insurance agent should be able to point you in the right direction for that.

No need for that you are correct.Originally Posted by Thetyim
Anyway a very pleasant experience. One hour and twenty minutes for renewing the registration and getting a translation of it in English for trips across the border.
