Today in Phetchaburi was a Thai rodeo. I decided to go check it out. It was a typical Thai event in regards to food vendors and such however the entertainment was a site to have some good laughs at.
Now I am a former NHRA drag racer. For you guys that do not know that is, it is car racing in the 1/4 mile so I found some great humor in the event.
They had 2 main events.
1)The single steer run where 2 guys stage their young steers and they run along side with it barefoot the length of the track.
2)The better, more wild one, was the 2 steer cart race. These were full grown, angry steers strapped to the front of a cart that was made of basically bamboo. It took 8 to 12 Thais to hold the steers in line and then stage the contraption. I absolutely could not stop laughing.
The finals race was wild as about 3/4 way down the track the cart in the left lane lost its wheel catapulting the Thai jockey 20 feet in the air and he disappeared in the dust. I'd post the video of it but do not know how. Here are the pictures of the event
The staging area before they attach the steers to the cart
The Cart.....HAHAHAHAHAHA
Two of the four steers
Trying to get the 2 steers aligned in front of the cart
The carts, jockey's and steers stage for the finals. Loved the stare down from the jockey on left sizing up the competition.
Wheels Up...oops I mean Hooves up launch. HAHAHAHAHA
Was close at mid track.
Anyway, just another wonderful day in Thailand watching the locals have some fun.
