Those soi dogs are pests, in my neighbourhood I throw stones at them before they bite me, so they know who I am. IMH, kill them all, they are useless. Barking all the time, who will be weaken up if a real burglar come in the property ?

Maybe off topic. But would rather be woken up half a dozen times through the night by the soi dogs barking, than be burgled.

I saw a time-laps medical school film of a boy dying from rabies. It was something I'll never forget. If you are ever bitten by any animal either know where to find that animal or get the rabies series. You don't want rabies. It makes AIDS look like an angel food cake smothered in garden fresh strawberries.

How long is the incubation period?
The incubation period is generally 2-8 weeks, but very variable. On some occasions incubation periods have been several months or more.

I was bitten by this character on Pratumnak Hill about four months ago. Only a small puncture wound but my arm looked like it had a golf ball inserted under the skin. Popped to the hospital on Soi 4 but give up trying to explain what I was after & left my fate to the gods.

Hell, the dog looks healthier than what I woke up with one morning after a night without any condoms so I thought wtf.

If anybody sees this thing running around foaming at the mouth let me know..

What are the symptoms and signs of rabies in humans?
Rabies is a very serious infection which affects the central nervous system. Initial symptoms can include anxiety, headaches and fever; later the effects of the encephalitis intensify. There are spasms of the swallowing muscles making it difficult or impossible for patients to drink (hydrophobia), and respiratory failure sets in.

Looks to me like you've got a good hospital there. Can you tell us who your accident insurance company is. And did they pay?

The hospital that I use for minor stuff in our 'mooban' is called the Kasemard Sukhapibal 3 Hospital. Their phone number is 02-729-3000. The fax is 02-729-5050.

I was there this afternoon. 2 shots down and 3 to go! B600 per shot!

Here I was trying to show the nurse how to take a photo.

With regards to insurance. My wife is an AIA insurance agent. So we have policies out the ying/yang. Coming from the states, I am not a fan of insurance companies!

However, we have bought an accident policy for me for B2,000 per year that covers up to B50,000 per accident. My bill for this dog bite is almost B21,000 and the insurance covers the cost.

If you have read any of hillbilly's threads lately you can see that it is money well spent.

You can PM me for the wife's phone number. She speaks fluent American English.

The next shot! Two more to go. The nurse told me to relax, so that is why you can't really see my massive bicep!

As you lot are the caring sort. Yes, the dog is okay.

    Yea, yea, yea.

Anyway, I had to go back again today to the hospital to change the bandage. However, my eyes are starting to open.

For example this shot shows a teenage girl with a broken arm. If she smacks her mouth chewing anymore gum, then the other arm may be in jeopardy.

And then the Thai kids want to play while the nurses watch.

And please feed little Somchai as we wait for the doctor.

At first he said no photo. B100 later, why not?

It's when the dogs are quiet that you have to worry. Modus operandi for Thai burglar gangs is to go round and poison all the neighourhood dogs at around 1am and then go back and do the houses over at about 4am when all's quiet.

Thanks for the info. I have my pick-up insured with AIG, and the broker wants me to take out medical insurance too (I presume with AIA), so I now know what sort of cost and benefit to expect from this sort of policy. Thanks.

The nurses at this hospital were quite friendly and professional. I have 2 more rabies vaccine shots to go through, then I should be done!
