    I do have a couple of corrections to my posts above:

    The first is my statement that “About the only water used for drinking was rain water”. This was only true around the rainy season. In the dry season, their store of rain water would run out. Then they would have to use well water. Certainly, rain water would always be consumed if available.







    My second incorrect statement was, “There was no electricity in the town yet, so no refrigeration or lights”. My wife reminded me that electricity had recently been extended into the village. I believe her house had a single light bulb that was used sparingly. In the above picture, taken a couple of years later, the power lines can be seen.
