Thai History Through the Eyes of the Western Press

I've got about a terabyte of Thailand-related documents, books, maps, and so on on the computer at home and last night decided to sort it all out into more useful categories. While I was doing that I came upon a folder full of stories I'd copied from newspaper archives on the Internet. They cover the period from the early 19th Century to about 1995. I thought others would be interested in seeing some of this stuff so I'll post the ones I find interesting in this thread. I haven't fixed a cut-off date for stories but I'd like to start with pre-1946 news. Feel free to join in

wouldn't members be a more bit better place to post given some of the details here?

Shouldn't think so, this is all ancient history. Keeping it in the public forum is one reason I don't want to post anything after 1946.

Will do, yes. I'm going to make an effort to keep this chronological (more or less). More coming up.
