I live in northern Suphanburi - 2 hours from Bangkok. I see by looking at Pool & Spa for example, they do projects all over Thailand. Their reference list is quite extensive.

In terms of using a local company, I'm not sure there is one. I'm kinda out in the Ban Nook but close to Muang Suphan.

I'll get you a phone number later for a company in Bangkok they work all over Thailand I have bought equipment of them for the last 6 years and they have never let me down if anything went wrong.

As for the pool equipment it don't cost much more to go first class and they are the main dealers for "WaterCo" an Aussie company.

My experience here in Phuket WaterCo"s pumps have been the best I have seen most companies pool pumps, stay away from the Chinese and Italian pumps

my pool is somewhat of a highbred in that it is overflow on 3 sides and has skimmers at one end. If I had it to do all over again I would have gone with 4 sides overflow and no skimmer. The overflow is a better look and there are not scum rings left around the elevated parts of a skimmer pool walls.

I used Zelbright as my filtering medium in my sand filter. It is head and shoulders above sand and cartridge type filtering medium. I would recommend the use of Zelbright as your filtering medium.

No Chinese manufactured pumps and filters.

Good suggestions K. SEA. Initially thought to go the salt water route although now I'm thinking since the pool and surround are going to be covered / screened-in, the chemical issue isn't as severe with sun not hitting the water? Don't know...

Good pump is from Pantair it is manufactured in the USA good Sand Filter is from Pantair manufactured in Thailand,
There are concrete pools, fibreglass pools & vinyl lined pool in Thailand.

They may sub out the grunt work to a local poo lup mau. Ask to see their company profile and ask to contact any people who they have done work for in your area. They are probably as good as any but you need to establish that you have good and open communication with them.

expense was only my secondary consideration. primary was ease of maint. salt water chlorinator also eliminates the chlorine odor, is easy on the eyes and skin, and assists in allowing less/easier routine maintenance. but, whatever works for you...

I'm going with a tiled pool but I saw on Pool & Spa's site they do Shotcrete pools too. Problem is getting a truck in to do a shotcrete pool if you are outside the Metro area.

tiles are good and easier to keep clean, as long as they are nice shiny ones

as said, use Aussie equipment, they have a lot of experience and development

salt water chlorination is good, magnesium is better

Yes, thick shiny ones about 10cm x 10cm. They have great colors.

Best advice I can offer buy the best quality tile glue/ cement and grout yourself and be there during the laying and grouting.
We've had problems 3+ years on with tiles lifting and grout dissolving.
Allow for extra return water pipe outlets for when the urge comes later to have cherubs, elephant statues and the like pissing in the pool

Siam Pools looks to be mainly in the South but thanks for the good suggestion(s) re salt water chlorination / magnesium. Think I've heard the magnesium is real 'paeng' tho?

There's nothing wrong with having a chlorine pool, the problem is that people hand dose the chlorine and always throw to much hence the smell of chlorine.
What you should install is an Automatic Chlorine Dispenser and Jaccuzi make one called the Sidekick you fill it with chlorine tablets, set the required ppm and thats it, only need to check the sidekick before the tablets all dissolve.

What I have found here in Phuket with the Salt water chlorination systems they only last about 3 to 4 years before you need to replace the plates because of the quality of water in some areas (not city water)

Then when you tell the customer how much, most people I know do not bother to replace it, some as much as 30,000 baht.

Here is a picture of it, the last ones I bought were from Pool&Spa they used to stock them

It has a large centre in Chiang Mai, as well as Phuket and somewhere else

What you mean Nasty. The only nasty thing about fibreglass pools are the people that dont have any Idea.
Fibreglass swimming pools have been manufactured for 20 years in Australia.
