    Mack Giver's, green hand thread

Mistakes can be avoided and solutions found with the knowledge of what stuff to be planted where.

I just was reading Daveboys construction story out in the rice fields and someone came with this advice:

Tell him to surround his garden with lemon grass normally keeps the mossies at bay.

For another advice like that, i was visiting a friend the other day and my wife asked him why he does not cut that particular three to get rid of the mossies !!! ( picture soon )

In europe we have the "geranium" flower pots on front of windows to repulse flyes and mossies...

Most farang i see building a house over here will be in a hurry to plant his own mango trees. Most of them will experience that red ants bite and should have this particular tree further away for the house...

We have a cactus in the garden and this one is curing wounds fast if you apply a cut part over the wound...

    msoquito friendly

That would be one type attracting crowds of mosquitos around, to avoid near the house...

a closer look to the leaves...

It exploded in size those las days with the heavy rainfall we had,

it is normally cut as a mushroom and half the size

this last view to identify the specie from the leaves, no idea about it's name....

Mosquitos don't like citronella (which is what gives lemon grass the characteristic flavor and smell). If you consume enough the aromatic oils will leech out of your skin in the same fashion that garlic consumption gives you strong breath.

    kuriebetbet

That's a mountain flower, most probably also found near Chiang Mai, this particular one was found in the Northern Philipines Cordillera and it is called the Kuriebetbet by the locals...

Another bad shot of the flower, but that is all i got until i return there....

Plenty of medicinal properties for this Kuriebetbet, take it as infusion, makes wonders in many cases...

    =========================

^^^ back to the bush up there, i got one update, it is not the tree kind wich will attract the mossies, sorry about that, but if you leave it so bushy it will make a perfect home for mossies, so should get a haircut to avoid this...
