    Laser levels

What is the availability of laser levels in Bangkok. Do they have the variety of levels available in the west? Especially the rotating laser for levelling ceilings.

Yes they have them even out in the sticks. My local 'DoHome' sells a few. But why do you need one? Thais use a clear plastic pipe filled with water. Far cheaper and just as accurate.

have seen 'em using a water pipe on occasion but had to give our builders my level for tile floor drain slope. They did not use it...have one door which is about 3/5deg out of whack and bathroom floors have to be squeegeed to drain.
The guys who put up our ceilings eyeballed it methinks but seems to be beautiful level job ...vaulted with lots of angles!

... a laser tripod or would also have to be leveled first ?

Home Pro has them from Black and Decker, etc... They are self levelling.

As has been said tube and water. People have been building things level since before the advent of lasers, even the Romans could do that.

Buy the hose long enough, fix to a point in one corner and walk it to each other corner and make a mark. Do this in each room and then all the builders' need is a tape measure!
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.

The laser ball looks like a gimmick and the homepro type stuff is crap.In Australia nowadays carpenters all own multiple lasers for a reason, speed and accuracy. If one is levelling big ceiling a laser and a scissor lift means that one person can level a ceiling very quickly. Likewise doing a set out on the floor and then using a small laser to throw the points up.
An old fashioned dumpy on a tripod is still an invaluable tool, dont the Thais even use these yet?

Friend gave me a laser level and found it really handy for laying out property and work lines. Once the line is set, you can walk anywhere with a sheet of paper and find the line and pound in a stake.

Go to the homepro expo in Muang thong thani and you will see the dealers of Bosch, Stanley Fatmax, Black and Decker, Dewalt, Makita etc.

They might have them right there or they can order/bring it.

If you order it from the web it will be a lot cheaper.

LAND is a cheap import to Thailand sold in various chain stores, the leveling mechanics (rotating prism, manual 3 point leveling screws) is adequate +/- 3 mm for doing ceilings, if you are electronically handy, it pays to replace the 1mW laser diode with a 5 or 10 mW one so it it easy to use in bright sunlight. If you are not so handy, you can message me and I will change it out for a nominal fee. If you want one that will scorch a line on the wall, I can do this too but it will require a larger power supply...555
