Personally I think it's a mistake, but many Bilgeberry users are as blindly fanatical as itards.

BlackBerry to launch 'iPad killer' the BlackPad?
BlackBerry manufacturer Research In Motion (RIM) is set to take on Apple by launching a new device to take on the all-conquering iPad.

The new rival tablet-style computer, rumoured to be called the BlackPad, is expected to be unveiled next week at a developer's conference in the US. iPad killer: Blackberry set to launch rival (PA) iPad killer: Blackberry set to launch rival (PA)

There is expected to be a brand new operating system in the RIM tablet, which will be built by QNX Software Systems, instead of the technology being used in the latest BlackBerry model, the 6 OS, reports the Wall Street Journal. Users will still be able to operate the BlackBerry email function which has made the mobile devices so popular.

The iPad rival will have a built-in camera, as well as a seven-inch touchscreen, according to sources.

RIM has refused to comment on the rumoured device, but the computer is reportedly likely to include WiFi but not 3G technology, meaning it will not be subsidised by phone firms. In order to connect to the internet if there is no WiFi hotspot, it will be able to go online via a mobile phone.

Earlier this month RIM reported that it shipped 12.1 million handsets last quarter. This led the company to raise its Q3 BlackBerry sales target, helping lift its share price.
