Try this

Right click on the volume/speaker icon in the lower right hand corner of the tas bar. click playback devices, right click on the speaker or whatever appears in that box. click show disabled devices then your disabled device will apear. Right click on it then click enable

It worked. Came back and heard the fart test without restart.
