2 1/2 weeks to go for MS Word.

    The tossers.

    What's Libre like?

Don't suppose there's an easy way around it.

And no (although it is probably a response that I would give) posting a picture of a pen and sheet of paper is neither big nor clever.

Earlier this year I had to replace the HD in my computer. Of course, the new one was blank. I found my old Windows 7 box so I could reactivate it on the new HD (a shop loaded a temporary version for me) but I still can't find the box for Word 2010. I'm using Open Office. It's OK for a temporary measure but it's nowhere near as good as Word.

I had a 2007 version of office running and wanted to upgrade. Found a full legal Office 2016 professional packet for 23€ and bought 3 of them for our 3 computers.

Legal thanks to EU rulings that Microsoft cannot limit corporate bulk versions to their intended use. Unfortunately for you only valid for purchase and installation in the EU.

So far, after 30 minutes, it seems to be slightly better than OpenOffice but I still prefer Microsoft Word.

If you are just creating simple documents then libreoffice is adequate, doesn't take too long to get up to speed and is not likely to change as much as word has over the years.

If you want to write a tome then learn LaTeX....

As others have said, it's fairly similar to MS Office for stand alone documents and adequate for most. If you are into Object Linking and Embedding, using Powershell to render your data in Excel or Word etc., like the Excel PowerPivot and table definitions, sharing and collaborating on documents then stick to MS.

They do a great deal for members of big organisations to install on their home PCs for under a tenner. You will need their corporate email and a link from their admins.

You can link and automate using a variety of methods in Libreoffice although you will have to download your preference. Python would be my recommendation.
