Snow forecast tonight, which is great as I am going skiing tomorrow
I didn't break my legs-hooray!
First up was sledding while we waited for a skiing instructor to finish what he was doing with another group
Then it was time to ski for the first time. Find the whole "plow" movement a little odd at first but the steering was easy- a bit like inline skating with more of a delay. Messed about on the bunny slopes and a medium-sized gentle sloping hill. It's a sport I'd like to do again and was pleased with myself for not wiping out once, I'm very unsporty and usually shit at stuff like this!
Other than that is pretty beautiful up there- some pics of Sky Resort
I believe the chalet behind can be rented for the day/night.
It was nice to get out of UB, which was its usual smokey winter self
The actual inside of the main resort was quite crowded and I felt uncomfortable taking pics. It has recently been refurbished and is very modern. There is a food court with an attached bar. I had Korean food and it was pretty decent but not amazing.
Later we retired to the Shangri La for beers, too many beers.
Wot no vodka shots in ice glasses?
Glad you enjoyed your first taste and no injuries. On to the black runs eh?
Happy New Year! Starting with the mother of all hangovers and pretty sure I ended up on TV here drunkenly rambling about how much I love Mongolia
Back in UB after a couple of weeks much needed time in the sun and not in a giant ashtray. A few random pics, I didn't do a great deal apart from sitting on the beach or by the pool.
First pool in BKK- was too cold to really enjoy it
Met a friend at the Swisshotel next door for sushi
Visited my best friend and met her new cats- the tabby ate the fingers of my gloves
It was then time to head to the Koh Samet for 5 days
A brief trip back to BKK
More pool lounging
Went to Lobster and Burger- it's good
Ate some a decent sized river prawns and shrimp
Then spent the last remaining 4 days in Jomtien- a coworker was staying- so hit the bars pretty hard and just spent more time by the pool
Tinnies Pies was visited daily for the ol hair of the dog and some brunch
Back to the pool
Back to UB-MIAT is a decent enough airline and shares lounge access with Thai Airways
ha, I could smell the air walking of the plane. While BKK struggles with an AQI of 170 UB is hitting 753 in the center of town
Very little pollution tonight, so all is good in the hood!
Mandy, sometimes you expect to get some creepy crawlies in your luggage but that is one nasty pussy infection you got there.
I think I have found somewhere I want to move onto in 2020: Who We?re Looking For
Low salary, but a priceless experience.
Bhutan it may be!
Food's going to be good. Lots of weed too
Not seen blue skies for a while so it was nice to get out for a walk and not choke on smog
^ Very little pollution in Bhutan, which is what I will probably be craving in another year. Some of the schools on the program are wonderfully remote- as in a few days driving from the capital. I think a position in one of these rural schools would make the whole experience all the more interesting for a year.
Don't be fooled by the 'national happiness' bs.
