I just hope they are applying green policies and minimising carbon emissions!!! Somehow I suspect that isn't too high on the agenda when there's baht to be made.

With 600,000+ new vehicles on Thai roads every year and few being scrapped, the infrastructure is at breaking point.

Then WHY does the price of used vehicles stay so HIGH?

Will we see the price of used ones come down if there are to be that many new ones available??

In relation to the subject

I think its great that Thailand is going forward with industry but careful not to place the country's burden on cars as it will inevitably fail. But the Government is ploughing tonnes of money and Tarmac into Thailands economic corridors so only the Bangkok area will be at breaking point all the roads around my town in the north are empty to the point of disturbing. I think if the country is gettting moire cars it needs more testing for the soon to be drivers.

I live here. I've been treated well here. No one asked me to come here, but I've been welcomed treated great by nearly everyone I've met. Maybe it sounds corny, but I am glad Thailand is doing well,

You are treated as a farang sa-ad as are the rest of us. You are only welcomed to a certain degree because you bring money.

Come as a refugee or beggar and they will herd you over the border at gunpoint or tow you out to sea and leave you to die.

The Thais in general are just as poor and indebted to their masters as they ever were, although their standard of living has increased somewhat due to overseas investment.

I don't see anything wrong with being pleased about Thailand's manufacturing successes (which would be even more pronounced were the baht not overvalued vs. the yuan*), it is the misdirected, short-sighted policies of the government that I take issue with. The Thais seem to be clinging to an antiquated notion equating an increase in private vehicle ownership with its attendant emphasis on building sprawl (shopping malls and bedroom communities) with modernization.
