thanks CD, we are on the home straight

no total price has been mentioned as we only had a quote for the basic concrete structure; that was B1.7m, additions like the overall use of QCON, the raising of the ceilings by around 10% from the plans, plumbing and other extras raised it to approx. B2.2m

to that will have to be added all the fitting out costs and any changes we have made. Subtracted from that will be other plan changes which we decided we did not need doing (walls around the roof terrace etc)
    I have reported your post

may well be the same guy I am using. As I said, there is nothing wrong with him as he did not build the pool or water trough

yes, my pool guy is the sole importer into Thailand...so must be the same bloke
Yep, most definately the same guy then (saw your last reference too, but posts crossed).

Affable chap, he was actually at our office yesterday.

As you cannot pour a concrete pool in one go, on every join you will get seepage if no plastic water bar and expansion joint water bar not put in at each pour (expansion water bar on vertical joints after so many feet run of concrete wall)

Did your pool experts put in plastic water bar? or is he not the sole importer of plastic water bar? last time I tried to help I receive a smart arse remark, so waiting for the next one.

As the cattle trough is in the air it has to be perfect or you will have leeks

yes, they put those in; the leak is coming from the concrete itself about 15cm up, so as said, obviously not vibrated enough

And they have been removed and were not rude remarks but simply about knowledge of concrete work and the meaning of such terms as Vibtating pours and walls. Plus I seem to notice the same "Devil may care" wit in your posts,
My pools that I had built at homes I owned in southern calif. were done from start to finish, they were hand stacked grout gunite construction and no leaks or square corners that resemble cow water troughs in the back country..

    lieing again

you were rude to Ant and did not write the meaning of anything

    mind you, "vibtating" is inieresting

it is a pity, with your experience of pools with no corners, that you chose not to share any information, but who cares?

    Gunite
Step 4: Gunite is a type of concrete mixture that is used in high quality pool construction. The entire shell of your new pool is made out of gunite. All benches, loveseats and steps are hand-formed in this stage. Waterline tile is installed around the perimeter of the pool to provide aesthetic beauty and helps to prevent waterline stain on your pebble/plaster finish. Coping is installed around the top perimeter of the pool. If you are getting any waterfalls, this is when the stone is set in place.

we have had some problems with a neighbour; the architect submitted one set of plans for permission and another to the builder. Reasonably, the neighbour is not happy with the roof of the wooden house being too near the boundary, and with the windows opening onto that side...both illegal

it is difficult to get away with infractions if the neighbour complains

so we have to cut the roof back 30cm and make sure the windows cannot be opened. Hopefully, later on, we will get permission to use the windows properly from him. The roof will be at the builders or architects cost

    The roof

difficult to see properly without dropping a line

oh well. let's have a look at some progress

The wooden house (besides the roof) is going well

this is the upstairs room; all the windows are in and it is lined with bamboo sheet

the exterior wood cladding is not yet completed due to new wood needed, now ordered

the downstairs room; the platform for the stairs

all the exterior is cladded; the front and part of the side are to be left open

you can see the wood cladding above the window; they are just about to put up more bamboo interior

    OK

the tiling in the main house has progressed in fits and starts

all the 4 bathrooms look like this so far

not grouted and the soap and toilet roll dispensers not yet fitted in

The bedrooms, besides the main bedroom, look like this

the main will have parquet (next week)

the first floor (or second, if Thai) landing has these starting to go down

may be useful for hop-skip-and-jump contests

    thanks, LT

however, if someone doesn't like it, no problem

that sort of design is excellent (for me) in the areas which are used for through traffic - like a landing
