Just get a cat from a rescue centre. That's where all mine, over the years, have come from. Persians take up a lot of your time, you have to brush them, and they can get eye infections and breathing problems from their scrunched up faces. A bit like pugs, I would think.

Siamese cats are beautiful, but very vocal.

I had one, and she was free., I guess it depends on the right place and right time sorta thing.

On another note, a friend of mine here paid 2000 swiss francs (do the calculation, but I think is about 1200 english squid) for a Maine Coon cat.

She is beautiful. Her name is Squaw of the Flowering Meadows. But I would rather get a moggie myself.

And you never know, if you go to the rescue place you might get lucky and find an abandoned persian or siamese. Or a mix of both - A furry squashed up faced cat with an attitude.

Good luck and let us know. Miaow (that was not Mwah!!)

The best suggestion so far & the only one I'd follow up. SCAD's cats are thoroughly health checked & usually vaccinated before you take them. If you buy them from a breeder (or worse!) from a pet shop or *shudder* market, the likelihood of kitty dying from some nasty disease or costing you loads in vets fees is pretty high.

    Green coming your way, Scandinavian.

All my cats have just appeared !
Went away on a contract for a coupla weeks 3 years ago.
Came home and there was this moggie sitting in the yard.
Looked hungry so gave it half my chicken and sticky rice .
Went away for another 2 week contract a few days later .
Came back and bloody hell ! there was the original cat with 4 kittens waiting !
    Never looked back .
Mum must have told her friends and I ended up with 3 more big cats.
Nature took its course and now the herd fluctuates between a max of 12 and down to the present 4.
Snakes are the population controllers here !
One looks a bit chubby so maybe we shall have another batch of squeakers soon !
They all live outside and only come in the house when I am on the computer and sit around watching every move - except the head honcho - he jumps on the desk and sends a string of eeeeeeiiiixxxxxxxxyyyf to my contacts when I am doing a mail !

Before you ask - the head honcho has been relieved of his dangly bits but I did have 2 of the ladies done and they both sickened and died after a few weeks.
Rather put up with hosing the yard down every morning ( when there are kittens around )
Don't even mention Kitty litter !
One of the kittens ate some and died within a day !

PS They all have had their cat flu etc jabs.

Hey, I know that you like the herd.

    To the OP

Just get a kitty and then think about your clothes socks etc.

And you, because that thing will be sleeping beside you for the rest of its wee big life. With the claws stuck in your face. Doing the pastry thing.

And the purrs - you were worried about purrs? Ha, get ussed to them. Cos you gottem for the rest of that wee pussys life.

    Sorry, a bit pusshhed tonight.
