    A tiger is coming

The Gods are indeed smiling on me.

Tiger airlines are now flying Singapore-darwin.

I just did a dummy run on their website and i can now leave darwin at 6am and arrive in Bangkok at 12.30pm for the grand total includibng all taxes of $188 = approx 5600 baht.

THATS RIGHT FOLKS, a return ticket down under from Bangers for 11,200 baht.

That sure beats 30,000 baht and a 12 hour stop over in brunei

Crap - I just realised with these prices people might actually come to my neck of the woods and therefore drop in, I better start collecting firewood so I can boil the billy.

PS - you can fly darwin to any other city in Australia for around $150 (4,500 baht) if the top end isnt to your liking.

Oh dear - what have I done.

I can just imagine, Poolie, Marmers, the dog and others around my place for a bbq and a few XXXX's (thats a beer before any of you ignoramus's get any ideas). What a hoot.

I just dunno what my wife and neighbours would think.

I really am exciting about this deal. Not only will it save me heaps but will cut the travelling time in half which now with a baby is an added bonus. Might even fly a few of the inlaws over for a holiday.

Now that i think about it most flights from any capital city in australia to bkk cost between $900 - $1200. (27000 - 36,000 baht) return. Booking online yourself with a half decent fair to Darwin would also save yourself bucket loads.

Plenty of jobs making good money are available here, pity that the weather/beer/cost of living/girls/did I mention the hot weather? really suck.

Pooly was commenting on Memocks lack of English skills, if you look further up the thread you will see a link for their airline site.

It aint singapore airlines its tiger airways if you hadn't noticed.

you need to get to Darwin first.

Still cheaper to fly Perth to dwn to sing to bkk though.

Just finished booking a trip to Thailand for 2 weeks time. Using tiger to Singapore then Air asia to Bangkok. Heaps cheaper.

sorry.. i thought you meant you could fly direct Darwin/ Bkk
and i was looking but couldn't find it
Darwin/singapore with tiger will be okay
sing/bkk with airasia you had better pray for a lucky day...especially traveling with the sprog...AA are notoriously late.late.late..especially out of singgapore

hope you have a good flight

    Cheers Klongy.

Yeah no direct flights like you said. Tiger do fly from Sing to Bkk but they dont match up very well. I have flown Air Asia a fair bit and they have always been on or close to being on time - mind you I havent flown with them out of Singapore.

They do leave from changi dont they and not across the border?

At this stage we have a 2 hr wait in Singapore and on the way back we could have had a 1 hr late but I thought that was cutting it a bit fine so I booked an earlier one - 4 hr wait now.

Not bad for $1,300 incl everything for 2 adults and a infant - thats 39,000 baht or there abouts.

I also booked a leg for us all from Bkk to Ubon for the grand total of 99baht each + taxes. Of course the infant is charged at 20% of the normal rate so our 8 week old cost 250 baht - go figure! Still I;m not complaining considering for less then $100 aus (3000 baht) we all fly return.

compare this to us getting to Darwin. We fly in a brasillia turbo prop 20 odd seat plane. We travel the same distance as going from bkk to ubon and we pay 9 times as much!!

you're right..the internal flights are usually the most expensive..& the most uncomfortable part of flying

I thought Air Asia flew to the Malaysian airport on the border. I would double check that mate.

Well, I checked their website for about 20 seconds and it does go to Singapore Changi (SIN) Airport.

That wasn't so difficult, was it?
