    songs from 1966

So, this morning I was faced with the choice of getting involved with a tedious, technical peice of work, or fucking about on the internet - so here we are with songs of 1966.

So, how did I get here - well, started with cracked, which had a great piece on seven legendary acts of petty revenge (worth a read, especially the Lord Byron bit):

which, afterwards led to "revenge songs":

Which led to "These boots are made for walking" by Nancy Sinatra. Great song, the link in the article did not work, so went to find it on Youtube. Just bought back the 60s for me:

Now, apparently released in 1966, which made me think, what else was released that year. A quick shufti around bought up the iconic "Paint it black":

Ike and Tina doing "River deep mountain high" (this is a slightly later version):

    Wilson pickett and mustang sally:

Lovin' spoonful and Summer in the city:

Simon and garfunkles "Hazy shade of winter"

and one that always has a special meaning for me as an expat, Homeward bound:

anyway, this list has a load of 1966 songs, maybe there is a classic you like as well:

    now, back to work.

Nice thread. What an incredible list of hits.
Paul Simon was on Saturday Night Live a couple of weeks back, he looks like he has one foot in the grave. Time to hang up the guitar.
