The court has indicted Raymond Davis in double murder. Earlier, Additional Sessions Judge had rejected the application seeking diplomatic immunity for Raymond Davis during the hearing on March, 3.
Raymond Davis, a CIA contractor had killed two Pakistanis in Lahore on January 27.
How are they going to get the poor bastard out of that one I wonder.
^I don't know, but it is worth noting that all of this is taking place in Lahore, whose judges, courts, and police have been catering to the resident hard-liner extremists there since the incident took place. Lahore is not representative of the Pakistani central government. Not that the central government is necessarily any better, but it does at least have a vested interest in acting somewhat rationally to keep American aid flowing. A provincial court in Lahore doesn't give a shit. This is moving towards a two-month stalemate, exacerbated by a weak Pakistani central government and a hopelessly inept American one. I continue to believe Ray will get bargained out, but who knows when? I just hope he gets ransomed before he has an "accident" in custody.
^ It sounds as if you think Davis should get special treatment cause he's american. Killing ppl will get you in trouble, this is fairly normal.
^I never said or implied any such thing. I think when two armed thugs brandishing pistols accost you in one of the more dangerous cities in the world, you have a right to defend yourself. I live in a dangerous country, and carry a gun, and would have done exactly the same thing.
"Blood money" paid to the families of the two thieves he shot. Davis freed and has left the jail with US Consulate officials heading to the Consulate and then the first flight out of the country. Negotiated settlement. As predicted.
Lahore acquits CIA contractor Raymond Davis of murders
BBC
A Pakistani court has acquitted a US CIA contractor of two counts of murder at a hearing held at a prison in Lahore, a government official has said.
Raymond Davis, 36, was alleged to have shot dead two men in the eastern city of Lahore in January following what he said was an attempted armed robbery.
The acquittal came when relatives of the dead men pardoned him in court.
They confirmed to the judge overseeing the case that they had received compensation - known as "blood money".
Under Pakistani law, relatives of a murder victim can pardon the killer.
Reports say about 18 family members of the two dead men were in court on Wednesday and confirmed that they wanted Mr Davis to be freed and pardoned because they had received "blood money".
They should have put the trigger happy American kunt up against a wall and shot the b*stard ,Americans have the opinion they can do what they want , fookin shit heads .

Did the relatives get flown out of the country as well?
^You are an amazingly stupid person. Have a red. Just for being dumb.
Given that blood money was offered and accepted. A process that seems to be a cornerstone of islamic justice; on what basis are these religious groups objecting to the release, and given the punitive action they take against anyone who breaks these traditions, when are they going to assassinate themselves?
It did go to court. The "families" of the murdered asked the judge to dismiss the case as they had been offered and accepted a "blood money" payment. The prosecution don't appear to have a say. The judge dismissed the case as he is able to under the Pakistan law code.Quote:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Pakistan abruptly freed the CIA contractor who shot and killed two men in a gunfight in Lahore after a deal was sealed Wednesday to pay $2.34 million in "blood money" to the men's families. The agreement, nearly seven weeks after the shootings, ended a tense showdown with a vital U.S. ally that had threatened to disrupt the war on terrorism."
Highlights
"That arrangement allowed Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to assert in a news conference the U.S. didn't pay compensation. But the American government "expects to receive a bill at some point," said the official, who spoke only on condition of anonymity because the situation was so sensitive."
"In a statement, the embassy thanked the families for their generosity in pardoning Davis but did not mention any money changing hands."
"Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said Davis was actually charged with murder Wednesday in a court that was convened in a prison in Lahore, but was immediately pardoned by the families of the victims after the payment. Reporters were not allowed to witness the proceedings."
"This all happened in court and everything was according to law," he said. "The court has acquitted Raymond Davis. Now he can go anywhere."
"Asad Mansoor Butt, who previously represented the families, accused Pakistan‘s government of pressuring his former clients; he gave no details. Some media reports said the some of the families had been given permission to live in the United States. Mr. Irshad said that was not discussed in court."

I just knew this spook would walk away from all this Scott-free. The guys he shot may well have deserved what they got. But at some point sovereign states need to grow some balls and show they won't let armed foreign spooks operate openly and with impunity in their countries.
he was arrested, and the matter settled according to the laws of the land.Quote:

i.e. he paid off the victims.
the americans need to be much tougher, not weaker, in their dealings with this so called soveriegn state. its for the best you know.
The Paki's had the Yanks over a barrel on this one. I'd say this was the best way out- but I'm sure Paki's dragged it all out a bit too.
The americans and the brits hope for a complete opposite to what the bs media prints. As with the middle east they're waiting for the right moment for Pakistan to destablize one way or the other so that the anglo-american empire can expand geopolitically.
nearly $2.5 million
^Peanuts compared to the costs involved if we couldn't resupply troops in Afghanistan through Pakistan. Of course as a taxpayer, I'm paying for some of those peanuts, but I would have been paying more for the more expensive option. It would be nice if I didn't have to pay for either option, but that just isn't happening.
