I think that the idea of a balanced diet being McDonalds for breakfast, KFC for lunch and PizzaHut for dinner may have something to do with it.

Countries in micronesia have the highest obesity rates in the world and they have little contact with fast food outlets. It's about processed foods, portion sizes and self control.

^^ not sure who's menu you follow

For me it is 2 to 3 cups of coffee for breakie, a protein shake, some smoked salmon and fruit for lunch and a small portion of either beef, pork or chicken with a salad for dinner.

About once a week I splurge and have a burger or pizza or something rich.

Still tough keeping the weight down.

Hard to believe you'd gain wait on that diet unless you are consuming a massive amount of alcohol too.

Unsurprisingly, blue states also have higher life expectancy than red states.

Coincidental.Proves nothing. Wisconsin and Washington are both fat and blue. Colorado can go either red or blue. There are 50 states.

I oughta go there and check it out. I'll bring my own lunch.

Isn't that where they released the niggers after they weren't allowed to keep them as slaves anymore?
I suppose they just stayed put.

Fried chicken, fried catfish, fried potatoes, fried hush puppies and biscuits more likely.

I meant tough losing weight. It is slow.

I do not snack between meals either.

I had a head hunter contact me about running a company there and my first question was why in the world would I want to live there. He then said way, I had not hear the pay and I said I did not care. I was there once and that was enough.

Now we're talking food. Good old fashioned Cajun food. Here's my diet book. Paul swears by it.

I think you hit it on the head with all 4 and in that order.

I think corporate America has loads to do with all of it. Fast Food pushing the portions to the max and serving stuff I wouldn't feed to an animal. In the USA we used to have grocery stores, now we have nothing but big box Walmarts. Walmart is forcing closed so many grocery stores it is sick. Mom and Pop shops hardly exist because of this.

So here I am in a large city and the only place to buy food is one of these huge chains (because the locals have all closed down due to competition) I am there to buy cranberry juice. Eyeing up and down all the labels that say cranberry juice and out of the 40 or so bottles to choose from not one bottle is pure. All are from extract, and even the ones that say 100% juice are not honest. They are 100% Juice but not cranberry juice, it is diluted Apple & Grape Juice from China and Brazil with cranberry flavoring. Sad situation when I can not even buy the healthy things I am seeking. Sure I could go to one of the few Natural food stores and buy a liter of cranberry juice, but the good stuff is priced through the roof now. $8 for a liter of real cranberry juice, buying another bottle of the fake stuff tonight at Wal-mart, not because I want to but because I am forced to.
Buy some cranberries (if you can find any). Squeeze them. If you can drink the resultant juice then you are superman.

My sister & brother in law went to the U.C.A. (United Corporations of America) about 6 years ago.
They enjoyed their 2 week stay but found it almost impossible to find 'real' food. They were also shocked at what the septics ate.
