Well, I've got to admit that it was an extremely broad and scientifically-conducted poll- there's no denying any stats posted by the "Pew Research Centre (sic)":

The poll by the Pew Research Centre questioned 1,546 adults aged 21-26 and asked them about a range of things they expected to happen by 2050.
They found 71 per cent expect cancer will be cured, 66 per cent expect artificial limbs to be working better than real ones and 53 per cent say ordinary people will travel in space.

Thats not very nice....i was just reporting on what this low life yank did.....quite a challenge holding out a 3 month baby and letting loose on it with a shotgun at point blank.

Maybe send the police that attended it an email and see what they think as they saw the 3 month baby explode like a water melon before their eyes.

    Yanks and their gun rights....sheesh....

I seem to remember an Aussie a few years back that liked to kidnap hitchhikers and take them out to the woods and execute them by binding them up and using them for target practice. Killed several as I recall. But I am not so dumb as to infer that all Aussies are sadists from that.

You miss the point humberdink, which is that while these ugly incidents do take place in civilised countries like the UK and semi civilised countries in Australia, they are rampant in uncivilised countries like the US and Rawanda due to your gun laws (lack of) where basically anyone can get a gun and most own one.

We've definitely got our problems in the US, but the UK isn't exactly a shining example:

UK is violent crime capital of Europe

The United Kingdom is the violent crime capital of Europe and has one of the highest rates of violence in the world, worse even than America, according to new research.

The total number of violent offences recorded compared to population is higher than any other country in Europe, as well as America, Canada, Australia and South Africa.

The UK had a greater number of murders in 2007 than any other EU country – 927 – and at a relative rate higher than most western European neighbours, including France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

It means there are over 2,000 crimes recorded per 100,000 population in the UK, making it the most violent place in Europe.
Austria is second, with a rate of 1,677 per 100,000 people, followed by Sweden, Belgium, Finland and Holland.
By comparison, America has an estimated rate of 466 violent crimes per 100,000 population.

Gotta love this story from 22/06/2010 The Canadian Press

It's unbelievable. It's as if Quentin Tarentino made this character up.

A 44-year-old Montreal woman who brutalized her children over a 12-year period has been sentenced to four years in prison. The woman, who cannot be identified in order to shield the identities of her children, was found guilty in April of assault and assault with a weapon. The woman had eight children by seven different fathers and five of the kids were beaten with sticks and belts and threatened with death. In one incident in 2007, the woman plunged her 14-year-old daughter's head in a river after accusing her of stealing some marijuana from her. Authorities intervened after the girl complained to police. In passing sentence, the Judge wondered how a mother could subject her children to such a hell. The Crown suggested four years in prison and the judge agreed, saying the duration of abuse and the vulnerability of the victims were aggravating factors. The woman's lawyers had called for three to six months in jail.

4 years for this? Nice. And I thought you could get away with anything in Thailand.

You want to start a thread in issues about gun control go ahead. I will be on the side of strong gun control laws. This thread is a about a psycho who murdered an infant. More precisely it is a juvenile trolling exercise started to stir the pot.

Headline tries to mislead, entire world is berserk with violence.

    However,

Per capita, Canada has more guns than anywhere, ( legally) yet the populace seems to manage their responsibilities of gun ownership.

Maybe it is the US culture, however US is 27th in gun death , Thailand ranks 3rd .

BTW how many children in China have been mass-knifed to death this year, alone?

You just seemed so pleased about the #1 spot that I wanted you to know that there are actually many achievements for you to be proud of.

Geez- the Aussies are fatter than us, the Brits are more violent... what title are we gonna lose next? Worst polluters (the Chinese may already have us beat)? Most fake titties? I don't even wanna think about it...

Better to learn to formulate an argument if you want to present a case. I haven't seen you able do that yet.

Most juries and fewer judges aren't impressed by juvenile slurs and half-spread- assed rumour.

I would say it's a prime example of why police should shoot men pointing guns at babies and threatening to kill them (if at all possible). My conscience would be fairly clear about taking him out, given the very real threat to several defenceless people (two children and wife inside the house).

There are plenty of ways of killing quicker than with a gun; and most of those ways do not involve the use of legally controlled weaponry, but that do involve some uncomplicated aspects of physics, chemistry, and biology. I don't think your point stands up to scrutiny: it does make a difference (sometimes).

Having said that, there is something to lament in the growth of guns (coinciding with growth of immigration) in the UK. When you consider the percentage of people even in the most advanced societies that you wouldn't even like to see driving or buying fireworks, the prospect of the consequences of them being able to avail themselves of legal pistols and rifles, just doesn't bear thinking about.

On the other hand, we don't restrict booze and car ownership just because of some drunken fuckhead mows down some innocent child in a car, do we?
Admittedly, guns are for only one purpose; but I would say that the issue here is the monitoring of gun ownership, and the need for a mechanism to limit gun ownership to people with training and of good health, via a regular check up, via a licencing system.
There's a world of difference between letting some illiterate thug (he had previous) have access to weapons; and between some university qualified pillar of the community volunteer with military service and training etc... having access for something like hunting (or fending off fascistic minions of a left wing state etc...).

A blanket solution is not the answer... shooting the cant before he let's rip is.
