Pope sounds warning over airport body scans

The head of the Roman Catholic Church spoke out against the use of body scanners at airports, saying human dignity must be preserved even as countries attempt to protect their citizens against acts of terrorism.
Pope Benedict XVI , making his comments during an audience with airport workers and officials at the Vatican on Sunday, did not specifically use the words body scanner in his address, according to reports in U.K. newspapers the Daily Telegraph and the Guardian.
But he said that even when facing the threat of terrorism, airport security officials should not forget to respect "the primacy of the human person."
"[With] every action, it is above all essential to protect and value the human person in their integrity," he told the representatives from the aviation industry.

Think the body scanners are a great idea, just think how much airlines will be able to reduce their prices once the scans start being streamed onto the net for pay per view

Being blown to bits is, indeed, a small price to pay for respecting ones human dignity.

Cool Pope slips and twists wrist

just pleased he's ok, breaking his wrist in the bath must have been a setback for him

oh, it was a 'fall' . . . not a 'slip of the wrist'

The Pope says I want one

There fixed it for you......now it sounds more realistic.

I just love the way our religious leaders are so in touch with reality.
If you want me to to strip stark bollock naked in public in the name of safety then that's fine with me. In fact I'll do it for fun.

Got an email wherein an inventor has put forward the ultimate suggestion: "all passengers are directed singly into an enclosed armoured cabinet which is programmed to explode any hidden explosives - no bomb no bang - have bomb have bits"!
A refinement suggested that portions of a newly slaughtered pig be placed inside in obvious view .
This was the humanitarium option to protect moslems not wishing to give up the rewards of martyrdom?
Sounds like a good way to avoid the flack about body searches?

Unbelievable . ISLAM will welcome that. Guess some of them get a hard on when when a nice looking scanner checks it out.

Body scanners. If they work I have no problem with them at all. I suspect most women would want a female operator but the majority of blokes won't give a flying shit who is monitoring the screens.
There is an exception to the second part. Chaps less blessed in the sausage department may not be too chuffed.

I hate it when the Pope turns out to be a Muslim . . . because only Muslims would be so stupid as to mention dignity!

People were being blown to bits a hundred years ago, and chances are there will be similar innocent casualties a hundred years from now. Dignity is not the domain of our species...

Curent pope is about 82 years old, which means he was born in or around 1928. So, indeed between 1939 and 1945 he would have been aged 11 to 17.

Hmm. Lokked a bit more, and this on wiki:
Pope Benedict XVI - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Following his 14th birthday in 1941, Ratzinger was conscripted into the Hitler Youth, as membership was required for all 14-year old German boys after December 1939,[7] but was an unenthusiastic member and refused to attend meetings[8] (His father was a bitter enemy of Nazism, believing it conflicted with the Catholic faith. In 1941, one of Ratzinger's cousins, a 14-year-old boy with Down syndrome, was taken away by the Nazi regime and killed during the Aktion T4 campaign of Nazi eugenics[9]). In 1943, while still in seminary, he was drafted into the German anti-aircraft corps as Luftwaffenhelfer.[8] Ratzinger then trained in the German infantry, but a subsequent illness precluded him from the usual rigours of military duty. As the Allied front drew closer to his post in 1945, he deserted back to his family's home in Traunstein after his unit had ceased to exist, just as American troops established their headquarters in the Ratzinger household. As a German soldier, he was put in a POW camp, but was released a few months later at the end of the war in the summer of 1945. He reentered the seminary, along with his brother Georg, in November of that year.

    Ammunition both ways.

    Hardly a Nazi sympathiser, though.
