'Bin Laden tape' warns Obama of more attacks

'Bin Laden tape' warns Obama of more attacks

The al-Qaeda leader issues sporadic tape messages

A tape said to be from al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden has warned US President Barack Obama there will be more attacks if the US continues to support Israel.

In the newly released audio tape aired on al-Jazeera, Bin Laden says the US will never live in peace until there is "peace in Palestine".

The authenticity of the audio tape has not been verified.

The message praises the 25 December attempt to blow up a passenger plane bound for the US.

A Nigerian man, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, has been charged with attempting to blow up the Delta Airlines plane as it approached Detroit from Amsterdam.

The speaker on the tape says the message is from "Osama to Obama".

Directly addressing Americans, it says: "It is unfair you enjoy a safe life while our brothers in Gaza suffer greatly... Our attacks will continue as long as you support Israel."

The al-Qaeda leader issues sporadic tape messages.

In September, a 10-minute audio tape warned Mr Obama he was "powerless" to stop the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It's unfair that islam will try to destroy Israel first and then the rest of the world.

Bin Laden is not dead. The CIA are still using him as a valuable asset.

Got to ask the question as to why the US is so intent on poking their noses into Middle East politics. Covertly/overtly overthrowing governments, invading and occupying certain countries, sending hundreds of $billions to one certain country and financially subsidizing others while imposing financial sanctions on others. Financing and arming one country to wage war on another. Waging war on the people of one country under the names of freedom and democracy while openly supporting dictatorial regimes in others. Its been history of meddling and manipulation for several decades . No wonder a hard core resistance movement has evolved. USA (and UK) have been at pains to make out its not a religious war, but unfortunately for them the more they prosecute their wars in the ME, which are fundamentally economic in motive, the more they promote the growth of fundamental Islamism and the resultant terrorist threat to their own states.

USA (and their tag along UK poodles) have yet to realize that military oppression and economic oppression of the more moderate ME masses will not lead to the surpression of terrorism against their own countries, but only feeds into it.

I thought Bush had already told bin ladden that the USA had won the war of terror? It's a bit unfair old binny carrying on with his campaign of destruction against the USA when he has already lost this war

As a thought experiment, let's just say we closed down Israel, kicked out the Jews and gave all the land to the Palestinians. Next pulled back from Iraq and Afghanistan and removed all western military bases from the region.

Does anyone really think bin Ladin & co would then simply say "mission accomplished", pack up and go back to becoming peace-loving civilians?

The stated concern for the Palestinians is just an excuse - most Arab government treat them like dirt now (or at best as cheap labour), and I strongly suspect the whole Palestine issue is just used as an excuse by extremists to rally people to their cause, which is basically overthrowing the Arab dictators and install a religious caliphate instead. It also gives the Arab world (and its leaders) a chance to act as victims and try to elicit sympathy instead of actually facing up to the fact that most of the Arab countries are corrupt and backwards in pretty much every aspect imaginable. Blaming Israel for all the evils under the sun serves as a useful way to let the locals let off steam and frustration that could otherwise be pointed at the people in power.

I personally despise the Israeli leadership and particularly its treatment of the population in the occupied territories, but I can't help think that if the Arab states (and the average Arab citizen) had shown some of the discipline and ambitions that the Israelis seem to possess in spades, their owns countries wouldn't have been such basket cases as they are today.
Any error in tact, fact or spelling is purely due to transmissional errors...
