Just my personal opinion but I think there is a market that was never really tested for a plane like Concorde and that would be the money takes all market.

I think there are enough people in the world now , the elite with mega bucks , who actually pay whatever to get from A -- B at whatever price at half the normal travelling time
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

    I think the plan is 3 in 2012 , then 6 in 2013 and 12 eventually.

The one going on the London BKK route is to be used domestically in Thai so the crew can get used to it before the long haul,, ( good to know were not the CTD,s )
There going to have to get people to fly with them again first, last three people i know who flew that route in the last 2 months said the outward leg averaged 80 passengers.

They were a shocker, i've booked with them but this is the first time in 6 years that i've used them and if they're as bad as they were i'll not be using them again!
Well, luckily I didn't have any tortoises on me at the time...

Environmental concerns 1967 Seattle, WA USA
By this point, the opposition to the project was becoming increasingly vocal. Environmentalists were the most influential group, voicing concerns about possible depletion of the ozone layer due to the high altitude flights, and about noise at airports and from sonic booms.
Sonic Booms were awesome, boom boxes sound horrible.

    The Concorde wowwowwee.

    Oh gosh!

I agree. That is why there is little real demand for first class and business class in the commercial airline market. Most of the businessmen now fly private as corporations have found it is beneficial to get their people where they have to go without all of the hassle and wasted time of today's commercial airline travel.

They might well have Arr'y but wiping the dew off the pilots goggles and swinging the prop before takeoff is not really one's idea of going away for a swift one

I don't think private Jets are responsible for a possible decline in First and Business Class. They are for very few people.

But most likely accounting found out that middle management and technical staff arrive just as quickly in economy. Difficult for airlines to reverse that trend. They will need calculations that will turn a profit without First Class in the future.

If your talking bout them 20 yr old Jumbo's Jizz I know what you mean ,, been on the ol crates ni'on 30 times , but they are going into a program of refurbishment ie seat back screens as opposed to them big ol screens in the middle of the plane , but as I said the Heathrow - BKK route will have the 380 on it next year

The Boeing air plane was never built, the engines and the very necessary nacelles were beyond the US at the time. The Russian Concordski, a rip off Boeing, never mastered the problems because they stole the incomplete US design.

The reason the Boeing was never built was because the US government pulled the plug and without government funding most US air planes as well as engines would not be around. Concorde was dumped due to BA and Air France, two private companies, would no longer fund the maintenance on an ageing and highly stressed airframe. Plus the fact one Concorde was brought down by a US airplane and killed a number of people.
Yes, my friend, the environmental considerations were a major factor in the cancellation of the American SST. Government funding was not approved due to many factors including these environmental problems.

As you can see by the weblinks Boeing did have a viable prototype that included the Titanium airframe and the General Electric GE4 engines. So, I don't think these things were beyond the US technical capability at that time.

Funding for the manufacture of the Concorde was 100% provided by the British and French governments (in other words the taxpayers) . No private money was used. The taxpayers, who funded BOAC which was a public company at the time, paid for the Concords that BOAC bought. Eventually BOAC became a private company renamed BA. BA did make a small profit flying the Concorde. Air France never did make a profit.

And, as far as the Air France Concorde that was "brought down" by a US airplane. This statement is almost comical if it were not so tragic an event. By "brought down" I assume you mean the 1 foot piece of metal that fell off the Continental DC10 upon takeoff from the French airport. So you're going to blame this aircraft for the crash of this SST. Do you realize that parts drop off of airplanes all of the time? Why don't you mention that the SST was dangerously overloaded and that their MAC (mean aerodynamic chord) (center of gravity) was much too far aft for safe operation. To make this more absurd why don't you blame the French airport maintenance crew for not insuring no debris was on any runway?

You know that do you? I've been told that year after year by Thai staff and year after year they leave the same old shit heaps on the route, giving fuck all to the customers on their most popular Internation LH route. I've now stopped using them now, lat time was Emirates, 3 time before that EVA. Far better all round and cheaper.

I'm glad I will never fly that shitty Star Alliance jumbo again ( though they have changed the livery on it now)

Advanced warning for any members using LHR next week.
I just read this hope its not going to be that bad.

    Mass cancellations'

Normand Boivin, Heathrow's operating officer, told the Daily Telegraph that delays at immigration could be so long passengers would need to be held on arriving aircraft for up to 12 hours.

In response, carriers have been told to fly planes only half full, the newspaper reports.

"Modelling of the impacts of strike action on passenger flows at Heathrow show that there are likely to be very long delays of up to 12 hours to arriving passengers," said Mr Boivin.

As much as I'm aware staff in German companies is entitled to Business class if the flight is longer than 6 hours.
But that doesn't mean that some smart accountant will put you on a 2x5 hour flight via Doha or the Emirates instead of the 10 hour direct flight...

Did you know the nagging feeling, when you take something apart and after re-assambly are holding left over parts/ screws?

PASSENGER ARRESTED IN US AFTER WATCHING CHILD PORN ON AN AIRLINER

BOSTON (AP) — Police say a man who was viewing child pornography on a domestic airline flight from Salt Lake City to Boston has been arrested.
Massachusetts State Police say 47-year-old Grant Smith was sitting in first class Saturday afternoon when a fellow passenger saw the pornographic images on Smith's laptop and alerted the flight crew.
When the Delta flight landed at Boston Logan International Airport just after 4 p.m., troopers interviewed Smith and subsequently arrested him.
He has been charged with possession of child pornography, and police say additional charges could follow. His bail is set at $15,000. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
Smith was in police custody Saturday night and couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

This guy is about as stupid as he is mentally ill. I'm assuming the cops must of either viewed the porn or were refused permission by the suspect to view it before he was arrested.

Our company has that policy, but it applies to journey time, not flight time.
