Seems to be all about that Gold card.

She is always going on about the Premium lounge and all the other benefits associated with it.

She sources Jewelery in China and returns to Bali with shit loads.

Had 60 KG she told me one time. No excess with the Gold card.

    Priority, straight through.

Airasia has just announced one of their sales. Book now up to 2nd Feb, travel later in the year.

Some silly fares going up North for $ 4.

I'm booking one down to KL for $ 40.

The furthest immigration lane is for dipomatic, first class and platinum card holders. Not gold card.

Get a TG plutonium card and you are straight into the first class lounge with its attendant serious booze and food, irrespective of class of travel.

Since they gave me the platignum card I have only booked economy, with the exception of a one way first over 2 years ago. Yet they continue to renew it. I have no idea why. The benefits make actually paying extra for the big seat seem poor value. I normally get a row of three or four blocked off by the purser and more often than not biz class food. .

I suspect their former hard core European first class frequent travellers (I used to do 6 or so returns in F a year when I lived in Thailand) are deserting them.

British Airways owner IAG in £1billion bid to take over Irish carrier Aer Lingus and its valuable take-off slots at near-capacity Heathrow Airport
IAG has offered €2.55 a share for Aer Lingus, valuing the firm at £1billion
The owner of BA and Iberia is keen to expand in Heathrow even though the airport is nearly full already.
The three airlines would control 56% of landing slots between them
But the deal could be scuppered by the Irish government or Ryanair

Qatar Airways Takes 10% Stake In BA Owner

Qatar Airways says it has taken a 9.99% stake in International Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG) to "enhance" their operational ties.

Qatar, which partners the IAG airline brands British Airways and Iberia in the oneworld alliance, said it would look to strengthen its commercial relationship with the European group.

Akbar al Baker, the chief executive of Qatar Airways, said: "IAG represents an excellent opportunity to further develop our Westwards strategy.

"Having joined the oneworld alliance it makes sense for us to work more closely together in the near-term and we look forward to forging a long-term relationship.

Qatar also confirmed it may consider increasing its stake over time, although it was not currently intending to do so.

The announcement was made as IAG chases a takeover of Ireland's Aer Lingus.

IAG chief executive Willie Walsh welcomed Qatar's investment.

He said: "We're delighted to have Qatar Airways, one of the world's premier airlines, as a long-term supportive shareholder.

"We will talk to them about what opportunities exist to work more closely together and further IAG's ambitions as the leading global airline group."

Mr. Somchai ... noted that, no matter what happens, Icao does not have direct authority to ban Thai carriers from foreign airspace.
Not a brilliant idea to cock a snook at the grown ups Somchai.

You might find your national carrier banned from all of its European routes.

Icao's recommendations, however, carry tremendous weight. In the past 10 years, Icao safety downgrades have led to the European Union temporarily banning all Indonesian carriers from European airspace...
European airspace and the US blacklisting Philippine airlines from US skies.

department had issued safety licenses for 10 airlines operating international flights

Only Thai International fly in to Europe.

Icao is scheduled to release a private report to Thai authorities within days. Officials will have 15 days to respond.
if Thailand fails to resolve issues of concern, Icao will publish the matter on its public website at the end of May

That's about the worst thing he could have possibly said, not only shows incredible (but typical) Thai arrogance and no intention to correct alleged deficiencies, but also that he clueless about the reality of the World.

Flight to Portland delayed after passenger stung by scorpion

A scorpion stung a passenger on an Alaska Airlines flight to Portland, Oregon, on the hand, delaying a flight that originated in Mexico, the carrier said on Sunday.

Flight 567, which originated in Los Cabos, Mexico, was taxiing for takeoff on Saturday at Los Angeles International Airport when the bite occurred, airline spokesman Cole Cosgrove said.

The plane returned to the gate, where medics treated the woman and offered additional medical treatment, which she declined, Cosgrove said.

She did not get back on the plane, he said.

^ So she's going to give up her apparent vacation, even though the bite was not serious enough to require immediate medical treatment? My guess would be the scorpion boarded the plane in her purse and she's now busy at some lawyer's office preparing a scam lawsuit.

Air regulator downplays possible Thai airline blacklisting
Good grief - this has nothing whatsoever to do with any Thai airline. This was an ICAO audit of the civil aviation regulatory authority in Thailand. ICAO is the International Civil Aviation Organisation - part of the UN, and is not a regulatory body itself. It promulgates international standards and recommended practices covering the multitude of disciplines that facilitate international civil aviation operations. Obviously the audit had a number of findings with regard to the way the Thai Civil Aviation Department carries out it regulatory obligations. The Director was seemingly using some smoke and mirrors to try to deflect any implied criticsm

Racism is in the air: Video showing racist exchange between Israelis and a flight attendant goes viral

    Israel/Palestine Annie Robbins on February 22, 2015 58 COMMENTS

Big story going viral on Facebook and in the Israeli press about a vulgar and racist exchange between some Israeli passengers and a flight attendant on an Israir Airlines flight to Varna, Bulgaria.

The headlines are pretty much the same all over, and include the words: “Watch: The Ugly Israeli,” in reference to what Israelis see as the rude behavior they are notorious for worldwide.

However, few (including mainstream media) paid attention to the little gem hidden in the video, a one-liner that epitomizes the casual racism so widespread in the Jewish state.

The flight attendant refuses to sell chocolate to a passenger (apparently he was busy with another passenger, it’s difficult to discern the exact reason). Things heat up. Then, her sister sitting across the aisle says at 0:28 in the video below: “She just wants to buy chocolate, what is she – an Arab?”

……Of course, this is understandable. The only reason a flight attendant refuses to sell chocolate to someone is because they’re Arab.

Few paid attention? Maybe they tried to bury it? The Jerusalem Post, published the video with English captions (original Hebrew) but skipped mention of the racist segment of the exchange. It’s difficult to comprehend how casual racism is so embedded in Israeli society that the insertion of the woman yelling her bigoted screed is completely passed over in their coverage. We’ve documented the casualness of Israeli racism before. It’s ugly and sad, something I’ll likely never get used to or expect.

This video exposes that casualness which may be the reason, thus far, it’s gotten passed over by western media. But with all the attention it’s garnering on social media that’s probably about to change.

One Facebook user wrote in response to the video, “flight attendants from foreign airlines call the flight to Tel Aviv – Hell Aviv. I wonder why?”

Here’s the video and the relevant exchange, translation from Hebrew by Reem Khamis-Dakwar:

Passenger 1: You will sell me Chocolate. Do you understand? You are my worker, I paid money for you.

Flight attendant: I am not your worker. You would die before I can be your worker

Passenger 1: I want the chocolate. Why wouldn’t you sell me the chocolate. I want the chocolate. What is that. I want the chocolate

Flight attendant: If you think you’re raising your voice and being a little bit more violent so most probably you won’t achieve what you want

Passenger 2: Sister of Passenger 1 from the other side of the aisle: Sell her the chocolate, what is she an Arab? F**your god (Arabic curse), sell her the chocolate! Do you hear? She paid for her plane ticket sell her the chocolate! Yalla (Another Arabic word)

Lower your tone fast! Sell her the chocolate fast!Ya peace of trash! What is that he is not selling her chocolate? A peace of trash ! You will not sell my sister chocolate.

At this point, the flight attendant approach the sister and told her??Remember my words, To “Varna”(Bulgaria) you will not arrive

A third passenger sitting next to passenger 1 joined by a string of curses toward flight attendant.
