Snubby you really shouldn't rush to type things without listening to them properly.

The last mass casualty plane crash in the US was in 2009

Suggestions that low level helicopter flights are allowed in that area but the Blackhawk may have been too high.

Reading reports suggest that this was entirely preventable. Copter probably piloted by some dumbfuck one legged DEI shoe-in from a deprived background and a with a qualification in shelf stacking at walmart.

Its the world we live in now.

I think that may be premature , I am unaware of teh selection criteria but unidexters are seldom treated well.

I will leave you and Mike to compare chopper handling .

Nothing would surprise me anymore. We, at least in the West, are living in an upside down world where merit counts for nothing. This insanity has not yet reached Thailand.

Intelligence and a thousand years of development counts for nothing, and fanatical stupidity has become a protected characteristic.

That is the title used almost everywhere. But from the grainy footage I have seen it looks like the helicopter crashed into the plane.

It is indeed. Coming up with only bodies so far.

At least 12 bodies recovered after American Eagle jet and Army helicopter collide and crash into Potomac River

Maybe he should ask his Defence or Transportation Secretaries.

“The airplane was on a perfect and routine line of approach to the airport,” the president posted on Truth Social. “The helicopter was going straight at the airplane for an extended period of time. It is a CLEAR NIGHT, the lights on the plane were blazing, why didn’t the helicopter go up or down, or turn. Why didn’t the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the plane.”
“This is a bad situation that looks like it should have been prevented. NOT GOOD!!!” he added.

That is all they will recover at this point sadly. The Potomac is just above freezing cold this time of year. You have about thirty minutes to survive in that water if you are lucky.

pprune forum for pilots has a thread on this. possibility that copters navigation aids and transponders are not fully operative at the low altitude that it was operating in at the time of the crash.

The plane was full of ice skating teams and just a few seconds from landing safely.

    RIP to all

The most fucked up thing happened last night. I was watching a program about Atlanta airport and I thought to myself, wow, there hasn't been any big air crashes in America recently. Very fucked up, very sad.

There have been a couple domestic US military terrorist attacks of late. From what I have read, ATC instructed the chopper and had no reply. Wasn't there another one in the last few years?? Ive forgotten

Then there is this piece, so yeah, not very imaginary Wills

However as every hunter knows a moving target is harder to hit, I'd imagine a bad actor could locate easier targets in DC, no other data just based on difficulty of tickling trout compared to gathering mushrooms back in the day when I was a fungi to be with

I'm no helicopter pilot but I think I'd notice an airport and a big fucking plane.

Perhaps it would help envisage you are batman with 50 x Hinda Waves shaking you about at the speed of Stumpys 2 wheel not tortoise with no rearview mirror and the kids are movinhg at 500km per hour out of the dark.

May take a while but Trump will want black box found in his backyard pronto. He'll be hoping that one pilot was transgendered socialist illegal Cuban and the other an NZ navy style DEI hire!

There was a transcript in one of the papers that said the ATC asked the plane to use another runway. The plane ackowledged and was on the correct new approach. They had asked the chopper twice to confirm they has seen the plane but got no response then moments later bang

The Cheeto-in-Chief wasted no time in pointing fingers, blaming DEI for the disaster.

President Donald Trump read some headlines while speaking from the lectern at the White House briefing room, appearing to blame a “diversity push” at FAA without evidence for the midair collision in the Washington, DC area.
“I do want to point out that various articles that appeared prior to my entering office. And here’s one, the FAA’s diversity push includes focus on hiring people with severe intellectual and psychiatric disabilities. That is amazing. And then it says FAA says people with severe disabilities are most underrepresented segment of the workforce said ‘they want them in, and they want them, they can be air traffic controllers. I don’t think so. This was January 14, so that was a week before I entered office. They put a big push to put diversity into the FAA’s program,” Trump said.
