Call me simplistic, but if I wished to enquire as to how a national leader is doing, I would start by asking citizens of the nation he/she leads. Putin's popularity rating hovers at a bit below 80%. I'm afraid I can find absolutely no evidence for the collapse of the Russian government there, or the dissolution of Russia.

Maybe distrusting poles where the leader jails, poisons or murders the opposition might be a start.
