It started there, and then moved to another town. The first victims were known to them, and then they started going random.

Two suspects named as Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson are on the run and considered armed and dangerous.

Victims were found in 13 locations in the remote indigenous community James Smith Cree Nation and nearby Weldon.

It is of the deadliest acts of mass violence Canada has seen. PM Justin Trudeau said it was "heartbreaking".

At least 15 others were injured in the killing spree, with police urging residents to be extremely vigilant as they conduct a search operation across one of Canada's largest and most remote regions.

"I am shocked and devastated by the horrific attacks today," Mr Trudeau said in a statement. "Those responsible for today's abhorrent attacks must be fully brought to justice."

As news of the stabbings broke, a dangerous person alert was sent to all mobile phones across the provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta - an enormous region almost half the size of Europe.

A state of emergency was declared in the James Smith Cree Nation - a community of about 2,000 residents north-east of the village of Weldon, which is home to just 200 people.

"Do not leave a secure location. Use caution allowing others into your residence," Saskatchewan Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) warned people across the search area.

Numerous checkpoints have been set up and drivers have been urged not to pick up hitchhikers.

There is still no word on a motive for the crimes.

Rhonda Blackmore, Commanding Officer for Saskatchewan RCMP said that some people may have been targeted, while others are believed to have been "attacked randomly".

The relationship between Damien Sanderson, 31, and Myles Sanderson, 30, is unclear, and the authorities have so far provided no further details.

At a news briefing on Sunday evening, police said there could be more injured people than the 15 they already knew about, who had taken themselves to hospital.

The first emergency call was made to police at 05:40 local time on Sunday morning in the provincial capital Regina, about 280km (173 miles) south of Weldon.

This was quickly followed by many more calls for help, developing into what police described as a "rapidly unfolding event".

Logan Stein, a local journalist, told the BBC that the region was extremely remote. He said that the attackers appeared to have gone door-to-door attacking locals.

The suspects were last seen by members of the public in Regina at about lunchtime on Sunday, and may be travelling in a black Nissan Rogue, Officer Blackmore said.

"They are considered armed and dangerous... If you see the suspects or their vehicle, do not approach them, immediately leave the area and call 911."
    Shalom

Looking at the suspects pictures I'd say this was a Muslim terror attack.

    What does TDCSI think?

I'm gonna go with meth fueled Native gangsters settling scores, and then running with the psychosis. Probably having a good sleep now and will be caught soon.

The 13 different locations just doesn't make sense to me. How do they manage to arrive somewhere and murder ppl and continue on the move for 13 times ?

You'd think by the 3rd one, there'd be someone tailing them , word spreading , cops being called.

Gun ownership is very high in these area. I think if these two go roving in the neighbourhood that they could well be taken down by other tribe members. These folks are not the type to hide in the basement and phone the cops.

I think it started at 5 am. Most would be sleeping and it's kinda hard to warn others when you're dead.

Canada police have said that one of the two suspects in Sunday's mass stabbings in Saskatchewan has been found dead.

The body of Damien Sanderson, 31, was found in the James Smith Cree Nation, home to several victims, they said.

The two suspects were brothers and police say Myles Sanderson is still at large and believed to be in the city of Regina.

On Sunday, 10 people were stabbed to death in one of the worst acts of violence in Canada's recent history.

The attacks - which left another 18 people injured - happened in a remote region of Saskatchewan.

In Regina, the province's capital city, where the suspects were last seen, families are in mourning and communities on edge.

They also said they don’t believe it was his brother, and that they believe the brother could have injuries that require attention.

So it sounds like they came up against it.

The 2nd suspect in the Saskatchewan stabbing attacks has been arrested, police say

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police reported on Wednesday that stabbing suspect Myles Sanderson has been arrested.

Sanderson, one of two suspects in a series of stabbings that killed 10 people in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, was taken into custody in the town of Rosthern around 3:30 p.m. local time, according to authorities. "There is no longer a risk to public safety relating to this investigation," the RCMP said in a Tweet.

This arrest comes after Sanderson's brother, Damien Sanderson, was found dead on Monday with fatal wounds. The stabbings, which had taken place in 13 locations across the James Smith Cree Nation and the village of Weldon, led to a manhunt that ended with Wednesday's arrest.

'Collective sigh of relief': Stabbings suspect Myles Sanderson dead after highway pursuit
    Saskatoon StarPhoenix

The final suspect in Saskatchewan’s deadly stabbing rampage died in police custody after officers forced a stolen vehicle off a highway Wednesday afternoon, ending a manhunt that gripped the province for days.

Saskatchewan RCMP Commanding Officer Rhonda Blackmore said the province breathed a “collective sigh of relief,” at the news that Sanderson, 32, was “no longer at large.”

Sanderson was taken into police custody on Highway 11 north of Saskatoon, but later went into medical distress and was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A source close to the investigation told Postmedia News Sanderson died by possible overdose.

Sanderson was arrested in a ditch next to the highway after police caught up to a stolen truck and forced it off the road. Images from the highway show a white truck in the ditch surrounded by RCMP vehicles and officers.
