To our US friends on here, can you kind of explain the process/outcomes to me please?
Essentially, as I understand it ...
- A 2014 Ford F250 is involved in a roll-over crash
- The roof gets crushed (as it would in many cars) in the roll over
- The wrong size tyers were fitted by a 3rd party
- The driver and passenger (married) were killed
- Their children (who were not in the car from what I understand) sued Ford for having a 'weak roof'
- Ford sold 5.2 million “Super Duty” trucks with weak roofs that would crush people inside during rollovers, the jury determined ... WTF, jury members are now Auto safety experts?
- A Georgia jury has hit Ford Motor Co. with the biggest monetary verdict in state history — $1.7 billion — $1,700 million dollars ... WTF
- The state (Georgia) will receive three-quarters of the punitive damages under Georgia law for product liability cases
Jury slams Ford with $1.7B verdict over deadly 2014 crash
