Although the United Kingdom is a monarchy formally led by a ruler who also governs the official church – the Church of England – belief in ‘a god’ in the UK is low. Only a quarter of Britons (27%) say they actually believe in ‘a god’. A further one in six (16%) believe in the existence of ‘a higher spiritual power’, but not ‘a god’.

Not such a minority as you appear to think. (I do use the word think loosely.)

Oh FFS you boring cnut. Get off your anti christian soap box. Everyone knows your view. You have bored everyone to death with it relentlessly. I know many christians with the same view as my own. Your understanding of western history and christianity is zero. Civilization doesn't stop at a U.S. border.

Like it or not, it's the tiresome god botherers that are trying to impose their archaic views on everyone else.

That's why the constitution called for separation of church and state. Obviously not unequivocally enough.

Then let it be legal and get the people who think it is wrong to preach about ways to stop unwanted pregnancies? Of which there are quite a few.

Approximately 70% of Americans are in favour of abortion rights. Around 56% of Americans believe in a biblical God. A further 33% believe in a higher power and 10% are atheist. According to my calculations that means at least 60% of those in favour of abortion are either "god botherers" or believe in some version of God.
May I be so bold as to offer a little advice Harry. Try looking at the facts next time rather than just spouting an uninformed ignorant opinion that you must mysteriously pull from the ether. That way you will look a little less like a loudmouthed, clueless opinionated blowhard. Or put simply, put brain into gear before engaging mouth.

Are you seriously trying to argue that this isn't about to become a reality because of the disproportionate level of power wielded by the fucking jesus wheezers?

If so, you're a lot dumber than I thought.

I guess that those in favour are not evenly distributed across all the states. More in the East and West coasts?

I have no dog in this fight. I am pro-choice, FWIW. Having read just a few extracts from the Supreme Court draft I understand that the majority view is that since abortion is not specifically mentioned in the constitution then it is an issue that should be decided by the democratically elected members who govern each state. Is that the key issue in simple terms?
On the face of it that seems a very fair call, in line with the constitution insofar as it isn't mentioned in the constitution. The problem then is that there are many states where anti-abortionists hold sway, through what passes as the democratic process.
There doesn't look to be a happy solution. If the majority of the population is pro-choice then a democratic government should be able to legislate for the majority. From my limited understanding of US governance, that isn't likely to happen.

Pretty much. Amending the constitution to add abortion rights has a less than zero chance.

    1. Passage by Congress. Proposed amendment language must be approved by a two-thirds vote of both houses.
    2. Notification of the states. The national archivist sends notification and materials to the governor of each state.
    3. Ratification by three-fourths of the states. ...
    4. Tracking state actions. ...
    5. Announcement.

No matter the SCOTUS ruling this will go on forever. If roe is overturned a long stream of cases will work their way up the court system.

I read the facts and figures which are a little more scientific and a lot more accurate than your unresearched opinion, based on some childish emotional outburst that has no basis in fact. It can be somewhat entertaining to hear somebody spout opinionated drivel on occasion, but then hopefully you are not under any delusion that your opinion is taken seriously.

This issue has nothing to do with facts and figures, but the opinions of retarded religious zealots who want to impose their particular brand of christian sharia on the rest of the population.

Hence the next target with be birth control, followed by equal rights. They are a cancer on America.

    That falls under "equal rights".
