Lots of film of the crash site and no bodies and very little wreckage.

I saw something on Twitter, looks like someone inside the plane shooting a video on maybe something like Facebook live. It shows it do a barrel roll at the last few seconds.

^ That will be fake news, it's what happens when people get paid for number of views.

They will be lucky to find the fdr and cvr intact let alone a phone or human body.

I can't even tell that is a plane the video is such poor quality.

Assuming the video of the plane nosediving directly into the ground, would the 'black box' (actually international orange) survive that intact?

^ The fdr and cdr have survived similar. However, every event is unique and there is no guarantee if the design limits have been exceeded.

Unless they find control surfaces separated from the rest of the wreckage, it's going to be hard to say what caused this accident without the recorders.

ValuJet 592 went nose first into the Everglades.

Damaged electric wires due to fire....due to "improperly stored and hazardous cargo".


The one "nose first" I know of

The indications are it was foul play... For a start, it was a powered descent. Secondly the angle of descent was precipitous- absolutely no glide ratio. Stay tuned.

It seems the aircraft underwent some major maintenance just before this flight. I'm sure that will be getting heavily scrutinised.

* Correction, may have undergone major maintenance; it's a supposition as the plane was out of service for three days.

Yup. Wait and see for now. Predict a long wait given the difficult terrain and the fact bits of wreckage scattered over a very wide area. Reports body parts rather than bodies are being found.

We may never know cause for sure. Black boxes may have been destroyed.

There was no contact with ATC during the dive.
Of course that doesn't mean much as the crew may have been preoccupied with trying to save the plane.
Search now suspended due to torrential rain.

They should look at the passenger manifest, someone may have wanted to off.........oh hang on i went all SoCal then.

One ‘black box’ found in China Eastern plane crash

One of two black boxes from the China Eastern plane crash has been found in severely damaged condition, China said Wednesday. The recorder is so damaged that it is unclear whether it is the flight data recorder or the cockpit voice recorder.

Mao Yanfeng, the director of the accident investigation division of the Civil Aviation Authority of China, told a news conference that an all-out effort is being made to find the other black box.

Good to hear they have found one of the black boxes. Fingers crossed they find the other and the data is retrievable.

The reason I don't think it was suicide is because there were 3 in the cockpit. The FO had 30k hours experience. It could be that he was training the SO. Maybe SO was in right seat during cruise and they had to swap before the descent. It's possible the swap caused an upset of the controls. Mind you, it would have had to have been a major upset to cause such an event.

Just another possibility...
