But how do British prisons come into this? Has she already applied for a transfer? Doubt the Americans will let her move. Her current prison is anything but comfortable (and no, I’m not defending the vile witch).

Apologies not necessary. It neatly highlights your complete lack of awareness of the real world outside your Fox News version of Chinese propaganda.

I'm a bit confused with this. The age of consent varies in USA by state. So what states is she accused of trafficking a 17 year old|?

Pretty sure she was on Federal charges. Trafficking pretty much by definition would have to be interstate/intercountry, and thus Federal.

Federal age of consent is 18, IIRC.

Yes, this trial was in a federal court, not a state court. In most states where these crimes occurred, the statute of limitations has run out and charges can't be filed.

Apparently two of the jurors were sex abuse victims and at least one reckons their talking about it swayed the jury.

The judge is due to decide if she is entitled to a retrial.

Lawyers for Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted of conspiring to recruit and groom teenage girls to be abused by Jeffrey Epstein, have requested a retrial and asked for no sentencing date to be set.
Setting out their arguments in a letter to Judge Alison Nathan, the 60-year-old’s defence counsel said there was a “compelling basis” to overturn Maxwell’s conviction for sex trafficking after a juror revealed they had a been a victim of sexual abuse.
Maxwell and her legal team had already signalled their intent for a retrial, but the letter to Judge Alison Nathan makes it official.

Ghislaine Maxwell has officially appealed against her conviction and sentence in the United States for sex trafficking.
The 60-year-old was found guilty of luring young girls to massage rooms for disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein to molest between 1994 and 2004.

She was sentenced to 20 years in prison at the federal court in the Southern District of New York last month.
Despite apologising to her victims during her sentencing hearing, court documents show Maxwell has now paid $505 (£420) to appeal against both her conviction and sentence.

During the three-week trial she was described as "dangerous", and jurors were told details of how she helped entice vulnerable teenagers to Epstein's various properties for him to sexually abuse.

Maxwell's lawyers had indicated they would be appealing against the conviction after it emerged one of the jurors in her trial had failed to disclose he had been sexually abused.

Her counsel previously said juror Scotty David's actions "demonstrated a lack of reliability and an appetite for publicity" when the socialite applied for a retrial.
