    British Columbia flood in pictures

Christ. That's highway 1. We had as much rain in 48 hours as we do for a typical rainy month. This part of the Fraser Valley is a pumped out lake. The pumps didn't keep up. But hey. It worked for 50+ years

Everythings pretty fuct. All train traffic and all highways are closed. Dairy and poultry farms cant get grain from Alberta. Small towns like Kamloops cant get anything from the coast

Thanks for the pics BS. Kamloops isn't exactly a small town at 100,000 plus. The devastation is widespread up a little south of here as well. Every major highway is down and bridges and roads are missing. We are sheltering about 4000 people from Merritt. And to boot we got are first snowfall today. Shitty years all rounds.

Been watching that horror show on TV. My son and daughter both live in Vancouver. They have not been effected much but they expect a shortage of milk and eggs being as so many of the producers have been wiped out

Hope everyone stays safe....hard times for a lot of folks.

Yeah true. It's more like a small city. The Coq is busted up bad. What is the record amount of days that it has been closed i wonder.. It's right at the start of snow season too.

You guys are probably going to be rationing some stuff. I guess you can get supply from Alberta eh.

I seen a military helicopter flying up the Fraser river today. My brother went down there to Sumas to help. I might head out there tomorrow

Yeah the kicker is that the train tracks got taken out. The farms that got taken out are one thing. But the mills and railway mean that all the farms that didn't get flooded are going to run out of grain. There's some big operations in the valley. Big poultry and dairy farms. The biggest dairy in Canada is in Chilliwack.

For some stuff, yes they can get it from Alberta. Unfortunately I think we will see in the next couple weeks how important the west coast is to western canada. The veg gardens, greenhouses, mushroom farms etc. Im two provinces over and I expect to see a few empty bins at the grocers.
Imports from Asia will get backlogged in Van. Amazon and others will have logistic headaches for a few weeks.

I just read that the Coquihalla Highway won't be open for commercial vehicles until at least January. Inflation is already out of control, and that won't help.

^Yes Marcus I believe both the Fraser and 3 are opened but maybe only for 'priority' vehicles. The Coquihalla won't be open to commercial vehicles until the end of January at the earliest, regular traffic later in the year. I'm hearing a price tag of over ten billion dollars all included. That a lot of bread. I think B.C is bearing the brunt of climate change in Canada, maybe even the globe. Bad, bad year weather wise. Up here on the Thompson Plateau we have escaped much of the damage. Hwy 8 Merritt to Spences Bridge may not re-open for months. Total devastation. Thanks for the pics BS.

That link doesn't work for me BS.

Even though we should, we won't be receiving a penny of compensation from the American side.

    Bummer.

Not our problem, you had inadequate dikes to hold back the floodwaters. Nice try though.

Did basements flood in Surrey BS? Or do you live out in the valley? Anyway good luck, stay dry. I hope these were not Nooksak flood waters. Take care.

Just the sheer volume of rain is flooding my basement a bit. And I'm sure many others. Thankfully it's not from the Yankee river

Are you even aware that that the dike on the Nooksak River was breached? You didn't build it high enough either.

Anyways, I blame it on the rain. Whatcom County is flooded as much as the Fraser Valley is.
