So Maria Ressa got the Peace Nobel Price for her campaign against Duterte.
Also for Dmitry Andreyevich Muratov.

@takeovers - good on her! It's tough to be a known govt critic in PH. Congratulations also to Dmitry Muratov!
^ Katie true but its getting more dangerous globally, the tolerance of real press is on the wane and social mejah is on the rise...sadly most influencers aren't forensic journalists just vacuous narcissists.
Though I can enlarge the page to see the script, it does not enlarge the spell check window, so when I get a red line under a word spell check gives me thee options, often I chose the wrong option simply because i can barely see it,
I know I should proof read before I post, but I am currying several conversations at the same time, and often I dont have the time or inclination. You should know what I meant to say, obviously I was not talking about the price of the Nobel prize, as far as I know they are free.
Ohh, and I don't believe you are not a cat. I mean how do I know, you are not just posing as a human just to get our secrets" and I just gave away to you our spell checks problems..

The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
^not trying to break your balls here.
And, just to note, the prizes come with a fuck off big amount of money...
^ just had a very quick look, it is about 1 million us dollars.
Its is, and they have dished it out to some fairly dubious characters in the past, these two deserve it but the Russian will use the cash trying to stop himself falling foul of some "accident" for the rest of his natural.
I am a bit cranky.
I Just spend three hours and five different calls to one og my US banks Wells Fargo
One of my tenants transferred funds into my account via Zelle. It was the first time
I had used Zelle. normally they pay me via Venmo or bank transfers.
So I got an email to accept the funds and set up my email as a recipient. I was lazy and asked wife to do it , and she put the wrong password three times and the account got blocked, the only way to unblock and reset the password was for me to receive a text message, with a temp.password, that I could not because I am in Thailand,
so they insisted that if I could not get the text with the temporary password, the only other way was for me to go to the local branch which is back in the US!! So I was effectively shut down from that account and access to the funds in it.
Finally I insisted on a supervisor and we were able to resolve the passwords issue, set up the zelle account and I received the rent money from that tenant.
But what a hustle, for a while there I thought I would have to go back to the US which would not be so bad, but then I will not be able to get back without COEs,quarantine or a stupid sandbox. etc and who needs that?
Anyway I noticed you did not defend yourself from the feline accusation, am I to assume I was correct? and can you offer proof that you indeed are not a cat, otherwise I am not sure I should be talking to you.
^555. I will need to muster my arguments to prove I am not a cat. You got me on my back feet.....
^ fuck. Foot. Foot. You got me on my back foot.
We are all chill here. OK?
Yes, we are all chill here.
Re: Maria Ressa and the Prize / price, she can use part of the prize money to pay for her court case here in PH. AFAIK the current govt filed several cases against her. Many journalists (and lawyers) here have exposed crime & corruption & have paid dearly (some with their lives).
There's an ongoing Senate investigation in PH re: how the pandemic funds were used. It's just so depressing to listen to the hearings (there are excerpts in the evening news) and you'll just shake your head at the corruption & cronyism which happened (and is still happening).
The PI is not alone Katie. Tied with the LoS in 2918.
Transparency International's 2018 Corruption Perception Index ranks the country (together with Albania, Bahrain, Colombia, Tanzania, and Thailand) in the 99th place out of 180 countries.
Dropped to 115th in 2020.
^yes, corruption is bad in many developing countries. Journalists all over the world are threatened because they sometimes go against their governments to expose the truth.
Here's Maria Ressa on a zoom call with other foreign journalists. It was moments after she found out thst she'd won. She's the one on the lower left quadrant.
