Do you mean poutine? Can't say I've ever tried it. That's more of a Quebec thing. New World countries don't tend to have much for cuisine. Not sure what Britain's excuse is.

Our recent national junk food fad has influence from both poutine (noted) munching Quebecois, and Malmo Muslims. It's imaginatively called the AB. Supposedly invented here in Adelaide, the gastrocapital of Oz (or is that the capital of gastro?).

It's a pile of chips, loaded with kebab meat- both chicken & lamb is the norm, than doused with liberal quantities of at least two kinds of sauce. It's awful- but seems to have overtaken the kebab in popularity for a late night, post-pub pigout.

But I still fail to see how meatballs, mash & lingonberries- or open faced smoked fish sandwiches constitutes a balanced national cuisine!

Dearset Sabang I think tasting in situ is required, while edible food is a novelty in the S hemisphere. Aside from stody Lamingtons, pie floaters the only famous dish was Peach Melba, there is some fine dinig in Sydney nearly all Asian French or Latin

While trout and Salmon asr e fine in Canada and Scotland and Alaska iin norwaystunning or prepped sedish style iiwth fennel served with chilled akaavit, snowberries

Danish patisserie is unequalled, I had the pleasure to dine in the SAS 3 crown restaurant on Amager Bvdin Copenhagen which prior to nouvlle cuisine was tops 22nd floor you could even look down on teh Swedes.

While some debate it is Scandanvia or finno-Ugric land the old Finnish port of Petsamo annexed by USSR and adjacent Lapp/Sami areas have a unique food which as a gourmet I 'd rank highly , The Volpic speakers of N Russia use reindeer in the same way but I've never been there to taste at soucre

Your shwarma style rotisserie/Gyro kebabs with shaslick chillis etc and chips have long been available in N London Amstedam Aleppo and many parts of Turkey.

Here's some gob thrills for you

    1 Fugu Japan
    2 Percebes Spain
    3 Maine Lobster
4 Finnish cured Smoked Reindeer a very strong taste like Basque Javlei (wild boar0 but they ahev grazed on prisitne grazing very rich .
    4 Peru Ceviche

Bumma Pet't as butterfly might say

Well I haven't tried 2 & 4! Smoked reindeer/ venison sounds very nice actually. Something skandi to look forward to! As for the Galician goose barnacles/ percebes, I've had very similar in HK but no doubt a cheap oriental version, not the 'real thing'. But hey, I love Spanish food- lets just stick to picking on skandis.

Have you ever tried a nice Icelandic smelly fish dish, like Hakarl? I mean yikes- but I'd give it a go.

I'd thought you were more of Byron Boy, or was that after the great barrier grief, and the "incident" with the wallaby?

Being more of the Manly type, I headed west for a trip in Broken Pill; got high in Pot Augutta and swam a Pink Lake way to big for my attachment.

Came in a Cedusing (postal code 5690) state of mind, but had to cross the Nulla Bore lei lei eely der, to get to Karl and Gurli.

(it was in the Bi-Centennial year)

Asked for directions in Norseman, and got sent in the wrong direction by a hoser in a GayCo camper, passed the Lort River, got drunk on Kirup Syrup and ended up in jail In Freemantle, arrested for furniture shop lifting.

    Byron Boy, eh ?

I didn't even stop in Bunbury.

I should've been jaled in Freo which is a fine place by Australian standards, I'm sure teh ugly women and drunk bikies made you feel completey at home as hygge as a bugga in a ragga scrum.

Were you deported from Australia, to pay tol eave seems the ultimate humiliation.

Fond hazy memories of Byron Bay and Nimbin.

Met an old hippy who recalled a story about Lord Byron, Wallabies and Macclesfield.
I honestly though he was off his tree on the herbal super strength skunk that he was flogging me.
However, it turned out to be a true story!
Over the decades the Wallabies mutated with the locals and created some nocturnal hybrid beast that few have seen.
Being one of the fortunate ones to witness said sight I can only marvel at wonder of nature and the fungi risen from the misty grounds of the Peak District.

Utter bollox , I think you mayhave been nder teh influnce of teh Roaches, my herd of mino kangaroos were under strict orders to go to Leek at the merest whiff of any Wilmslow Worriers or Wierdstone of Brisingyman sniffers.

The liberty caps which abound locally have absolutely no looooooooooong term fex if only used as an enema, you may have inserted in teh wrong Oriface aka Pattaya syndrome.

However your "trip" to Nimbin may explain rainbow posing pouch and pierced Lugholes , Collectig Toys cars, LBs or regular bible readiing may straighten you out.
