    Good Lord . . . why, Backspit . . . why?

Yes, the Soviet Union caved in, imploded and left the former Soviet republics in a massively worse situation as everything flowed to Moscow - since then. there has been a stream of ex-Soviets (many of he ethnic Russians) going back to the impoverished Russia because even that is better than their wasteland.

A good exercise for you: deduct the number of ex-Soviet territory 'immigrants' and let us know how many Italians, Germans, Dutch, Canadians, Swedes, Mexicans, Chilean, Malaysian, Australian, Japanese, South Africans, Congolese etc... emigrated to Russia.

Even you should know, and I'm stretching it here, that close to 100% of emigrants do NOT go to Russia from outside of the ex-Soviet states - compare that with any country in the west

Eastern European nations were held back by the Soviets. In most cases, they have had to spend the last 30 years undoing the damage done during Soviet occupation. Massive levels of pollution, neglect and destruction of classic European architecture, extraction of minerals and resources etc etc. Aside from only a couple of cases, almost all of those nations are better off today.

As usual you have no idea what you are blathering on about.

Wondering why so many Americans over the years have sought a better living abroad than in their homeland?

There are no exact figures on how many Americans live abroad. The United States Census Bureau does not count Americans abroad, and individual U.S. embassies offer only rough estimates.

In 1999, a Department of State estimate suggested that the number of Americans abroad may be between 3 million and 6 million.[68][76] In 2016, the agency estimated 9 million U.S. citizens were living abroad,[1] but these numbers are highly open to dispute as they often are unverified and can change rapidly.[77]
There are many reasons why Americans emigrate from the United States. Economic reasons include job or business opportunities, or a higher standard of living in another country. Others emigrate due to marriage or partnership to a foreigner, for religious or humanitarian purposes, or to seek adventure or experience a different culture.[57] Many decide to retire abroad seeking a lower cost of living, especially more affordable health care.[58][59] Immigrants to the United States may decide to return to their countries of origin to be with family members. Other reasons include political dissatisfaction, safety concerns and cultural issues such as racism.[60] Some Americans may also emigrate to evade legal liabilities; a common past case was evasion of mandatory military service.

Except that wasn't the question. It's Russia, mini-Vlad.
Do try to stay on topic . . . it's in the title, why try to deflect all the time?

Go on then, you quoted the question, so where's your answer:

No. One or 2 are better off now. Poland and one more and that's about it. The world worked better when it was split into 2 major economic blocs. Instead of this hyper globalist dystopian hellscape called Chimerca.

Countries like Moldova are in complete ruin. And its mostly because of "free trade" and globalism. Some of these smaller countries actually had a role to play in Soviet times. Now they are just wastelands. The USSR should have been reformed instead of dissolved.

Moldova, Europe’s poorest country, sandwiched between Romania and Ukraine, proclaimed its independence from the Soviet Union on August 27, 1991.
The anniversary event was held in the Grand National Assembly Square where President Maia Sandu was joined by Romania’s Klaus Iohannis, Poland’s Andrzej Duda, and Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Sandu said on Friday that independence has taught Moldova “how heavy the burden of freedom can be.”

For years the country of 3.5 million has been plagued by poverty, high-level corruption and widespread disillusionment, prompting a mass exodus of Moldovan citizens as hundreds of thousands moved aboard seeking better futures.

Clueless. Czech's, Slovacs, Poles, Hungarians, on and on all are better off now and would never go back to Soviet times. But you keep pushing your propaganda.

Let me give you a clue...

    ...they ain't going to Russia.

As usual, you quoted a questionable source, so I did a little digging and found the actual article. It went on to explain why most give up citizenship...

In fact, most Americans giving up their U.S. passport already live abroad and hold another citizenship. In surveys and testimonials, these people say they're dropping their U.S. citizenship because American anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism regulations make it too onerous and expensive to keep.
