Katie Hopkins’ war with Australian authorities has escalated as the commentator blasted the country’s leaders for “crucifying” everyone in lockdown.

Katie Hopkins has blasted Australia’s handling of the pandemic to her large international following, declaring “Australians must be set free”.
The controversial British media personality was deported on Tuesday after her behaviour in hotel quarantine in Sydney, which involved boasting on social media about taunting hotel guards by answering the door naked without wearing a mask.
Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said Hopkins’ visa, – which she obtained after signing onto Channel 7’s Big Brother VIP – was cancelled on Monday night and she was forced on a flight back to the UK on Tuesday.
She was also dumped from the reality TV series ahead of filming.
The 46-year-old far-right commentator has since taken aim at leaders for plunging states into lockdown, specifically mentioning the recent lockdown in South Australia following five cases of local Covid-19 transmission.
Posting a news article about the lockdown on her Instagram page, Hopkins wrote, “SOUTH AUSTRALIANS. Crucified. Over 5 cases. 5 CASES!,” Hopkins began.
“Residents imprisoned in own homes. Exercise must be within 2.5 kilometres of home and only for 90 minutes.”
Hopkins then posted a screenshot of a comment left by a South Australian resident on her page, with user ‘debraswan22’ writing, “Thanks for coming to Australia Katie and attempting to highlight the absurdity of these measures. You give us all hope and encouragement to speak our minds and stick to our guns. Thank you for being our voice.”
In response, Hopkins declared, “I will not relent. I will not back down. I will not apologise. Australians must be set free. #FreeAustralia.”

The posts have garnered thousands of comments, including from Australians thanking Hopkins for speaking out.
Hopkins has gone as far as creating a “highlights” section on her Instagram page, which allows her Instagram stories to be seen permanently, titled “OZ IMPRISONED”.
Hopkins arrived in Australia the week before last on a “critical skills” visa and was widely reported to be joining the next season of the Channel 7 reality series.


But she quickly attracted criticism for her hotel quarantine rants, in which she likened Covid-19 to the flu, compared migrants to cockroaches and said people with dementia should not block hospital beds.
The Home Affairs Minister released a statement earlier this week, saying Hopkins’ behaviour was “despicable”.

“It is despicable that anyone would behave in such a way that puts our health officials and community at risk,” Ms Andrews said.
Hopkins was also fined $1000 by NSW Police for failing to wear a mask on Sunday.
“NSW Police assisted Australian Border Force with the transfer of the woman to Sydney International Airport (Monday 19 July 2021), following the cancellation of her visa, departing to the United Kingdom,” a statement said.
