Canada has extended pride month to “Pride Season,” Jun- Sept

Official Twitter acct of Canadian govt.

I am concerned for the gay community that this actually devalues the cause more than it promotes it. If its on for too long, its less exclusive.

Do you support gay season or is a month better ?

Neither. Nor any other government mandated "pride" celebrations.

I kinda think this doesn't matter anymore which I consider a good thing. Twenty years back there was a widespread visceral rejection of folks in this community but now nobody cares. Among my friends, family and associates there is not one person who really has any negative feeling towards the gay community and I'm in what many would consider a redneck country. It has been an amazing transition in the last thirty years. Young folks don't give a rat's ass about sexual preferences. Only old wandering dinosaurs seem to care and they'll be gone in fifteen years.

    Thank God for small miracles.

Southern B.C. In the desert about three hours out of Vancouver.

Get over into Alberta and Northern B.C., then it may be a different kettle of fish.

It's not mandated you don't have to take part.

The thinking might be that if it extends over several months people will simply get tired of it (in a good way)

Like I say, for the most part in Canada, it doesn't matter anymore.

It's a primitive notion that a persons sexuality should be anybody's concern than that individual experiencing it

We have space stations floating around, we've been to Mars and this stuff continues.

    Unbelievable.

Of course you don't but so, if it makes you happy, I shall call it a gov recognized and promoted celebration rather than mandated.

It's nothing to do with what makes me happy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Socal's upset over 'ridiculous nonsense' that he doesn't have to involve himself in.

You do realise it isn't compulsory for you to swallow a schlong, right? Well, in your case it's an LB - so go for it.

socal gets upset at many things that don't directly concern him - now it's even the formation of the state of Czechoslovakia . . .

Seriously, why is this even a topic worth 'debating'. It is. They are. Live with it.

Of course. Very boomer take. It's not about actual gay rights or concerns.

I posted this just to laugh at it.

June to September pride season is ridiculous and everyone knows it.

You posted it because you're a desperately insecure little man and things like this makes you feel it even more so and feed into your victim mentality.

...eventually, all this "Pride" promotion will die out just as Pride parades have evolved from "outrageous" displays of sexual freedom to endless lines of gay firemen, bi-sexual plumbers and limp-wristed burger flippers...the thrill has left the station...

I don't understand how someone's sexuality is the business of anyone else? How does what a gay person dose in the privacy of their bedroom affects anyone else that they would be so much against it?
I have a close family member who is gay , and know many people from her circle of friends , one of him I know since he was a toddler, he is now 25 years old. and is like a son to me. They are all wonderful, kind, well educated, creative people, that are an asset to the country.
Gay pride should be 12 months a year as is heterosexuals pride. In fact there should be just Human pride, but we are not there yet.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

...*cough*...let's not go too far...remember that a number of child-molesting priests are gay...but, aside from them, yeah: we're all wonderful...
