I liked Connery, never thought that much of smarmy barmy Roger Moore. But they had one thing in common. Skinflints, Tax exiles who kicked the UK into touch to save a few shekels.

Aren't you always saying people, should man-up and not be such whining pussies . . . And you live . . . where?
One needn't live in one's country to be a nationalist or proud of one's heritage - just look at all the English immigrants who are ever so proud of theirs . . . but would never want to live there
^Yep, he was a [at][at][at][at]. Connery also doubled down on his 'it's ok to slap a woman" in '87. What a prick.
I've been living in Oz for almost two years now, before that Los for 13. Why is this germane to the topic? And you live . . . where?
Oh, and I lived & worked in HK for 12 years- if you are trying to make some sort of case that I am a tax exile.
Seriously, just don't know what point you are trying to make.
No great change it seems.

I prefer the more gritty versions of Bond, such as Connery & Daniel Craig. But that isn't to say I didn't like the Roger Moore movies too- I recall a great speedboat chase through the Lousiana bayou!
Apropos of nothing really, but Ian Fleming was consulted about how he perceived the Bond character to be. His answer was someone like Hoagie Carmichael.
like so many in the entertainment industry, he was just another a mouthy narcissist who got lucky.
his james bond roles required the absolute minimum in the way of acting skills and it was only the dumbed down publics obsession with the superficialities of appearance and celebrity that propelled him to stardom and the riches that followed.
his temper, arrogance and attitude to women has been well documented, as has his hypocrisy in shouting loudly for scottish nationalism whilst living in luxury on a tropical island. (and of course pocketing a fortune for advertising japanese, yes japanese, whisky)
only his inexplicable elevation to "national treasure" by damp pantied housewives and the slavish worship by the metropolitan luvvie set has shielded him from the criticism he deserves.
the james bond films were an enjoyable hour or two of derring-do escapism and crafty product placement, 100% business, 5% art, nothing more, and as always the public get taken in by the marketing and promotion.

Jealous, old taxi, eh?
If only it were so easy you could be doing it. Being as you are a tax exile and all?
One wonders if the heralded second lockdown whilst riding on the BoJo Incoherence Express that is currently British government has not addled your brains the more, Tax.
You are so clearly talking out of your arse here.
Connery was as far from the luvvies circle of self worship as an ocker's fart is from Chanel No.5.
His breakout role as Bond was an inspired piece of casting and no one as yet has emulated his presence in conveying the attributes of the hero with such pantherine grace, charm and implicit danger with the merest soupçon of self mockery.
But deriding his skill as an actor is simply stupid. I suggest you watch " The Offence" and The Hill" and reconsider your foolishness.
The man was born into hard poverty, left school at 13, worked in a succession of jobs and the Royal Navy before seizing the opportunity of travelling rep work. He was an avowed auto-didact and skilful negotiator who amassed a small fortune with which he founded several trusts and foundations for the underprivileged of Scotland.
He wasn't arrogant, merely incapable of suffering fools and quit England because of the tax laws under Healey.
And since when was it wrong to give a filly a slap across the withers from time to time. Keeps them honest and stops them getting too skittish.
Jealous, old taxi, eh?
as i said, he got lucky and good for him. he won the lottery. doesn't make him a good person or a good actor. but i cant join in the mawkish celebration of his achievements, because in reality he achieved little other than fame and amassing a fortune for doing very little. he didnt discover a cure for cancer or save 100 babies from a sinking ship.
he just acted the part of a ridiculous fictional character. the films were just glorified soaps.
sorry you disagree with my opinion, but why the personal attack?

cry me a fucking river. so what. The man was born into hard poverty, left school at 13,
he got lucky, thats all, and he seized the day, as anyone would do.
he was a man of some charisma but little talent.
Gotta wonder how he lived this one down though.
Sean is sexy even when wearing a diaper!
Held up by bandolier suspenders!
Thigh high boots and a ponytail set it off nicely.

^Seems to me that couple could have sued each other, and won.
I agree 105%
Oh, Tax did it - all the way to teaching Dental Skilllllz at a Bangkok McDonalds for some poor Japanese tourists
His brain was addled well before Brexit
It's your go-to mode any time you post, so why are you surprised at blow-back?
Well no, not every one would 'do', that's the point. Going by your logic everyone who is downtrodden 'will' pull himself out of it - I think even TD is a good example that this isn't true
Yup, and any man that thinks it's okay to smack a woman isn't a real man imo.
