    WARNING: Distressing details
A horrific story is emerging from a Sydney-bound Qatar Airways flight, in which multiple Australian women were dragged off and subjected to invasive medical examinations following the discovery of a baby in an airport bathroom.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has expressed its “serious concerns” with Qatari authorities after the shocking incident, which has been blasted by one senator as “totally outrageous”.
The QR 908 flight was en route to Sydney earlier this month when it landed for a transit stop at the Hamad International Airport in Doha in Qatar.
A premature baby was found alive and abandoned in a bathroom at the terminal.
7 News reported that women at the airport, including 13 Australians, were pulled off flights and forced to undergo “invasive” medical examinations in that time.

Qatari authorities forced the women to remove their underwear in an ambulance on the airport tarmac.
The women then had their genitalia “invasively examined” without their consent and without being told the reason why.
An airport spokesman told 7News that the child is being cared for by medical and social workers.
Labor Senator Malarndirri McCarthy said the incident was “totally outrageous”.
“It is a complete abrogation of responsibility and personal privacy,” she told the Today show this morning. “These women did not deserve to be going through this.
“I certainly know that Labor is very supportive. It’s behind the Australian Government. Expressing the highest level our complete and utter outrage at this obscene handling of any woman to be able to go through this invasion of privacy.
“Naturally, it’s an incredibly tragic situation when any person loses a child. But to then just drag every single woman that you can possibly see and say OK we’ll do this to you and they don’t know what is going on.

“All of that is just outrageous. I certainly wound want it to happen to me. I’m sure you wouldn’t want it to happen to you wouldn’t want it to happen to you. No woman anywhere would want this to happen without their express permission at all.”
Labor Joel Fitzgibbon MP said if the incident was found to be true it “effectively amounts to state sanctioned sexual assault”.
“As a father, my first thought was what if this was one of my daughters,” he said.
“We should all be very concerned and the government here in Australia should be most robust in its response.”
Nationals MP Joyce said it was “outrageous to think that so many ladies went through that sort of humiliation”.
“What authority did they think they had the capacity to do that? What on earth were they hoping to achieve?” he said on Sunrise.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has “serious concerns” with Qatari authorities over the incident.
“The Australian Government is aware of concerning reports regarding the treatment of female passengers, including Australian citizens, at Doha (Hamad) airport in Qatar,” a spokesman said.
“We have formally registered our serious concerns regarding the incident with Qatari authorities and have been assured that detailed and transparent information on the event will be provided soon.”

Women on flight from Qatar to Australia reportedly internally examined on tarmac after premature baby found in Doha airport bathroom

The Australian Government has registered "serious concerns" with Qatar after women on board a flight from Doha to Sydney were subjected to an invasive internal examination.
    Key points:

    • Staff at Hamad International Airport reportedly found a premature baby in a terminal bathroom
    • The baby is safe and receiving medical care
    • It is alleged they detained and forced women on a Sydney-bound flight to undergo an invasive examination on the tarmac

Seven News has reported that a premature baby was found in a terminal bathroom at the Hamad International Airport in Doha earlier this month.

A statement from Hamad Airport confirmed the baby is safe and is receiving medical care.

"At this time, the newborn infant remains unidentified, but is safe under the professional care of medical and social workers," the statement read.

"Medical professionals expressed concern to officials about the health and welfare of a mother who had just given birth and requested she be located prior to departing [the airport]."

The mother of the baby has not been located.

Women on board a flight that was bound for Sydney, including 13 Australians, were detained and forced to undergo an examination in an ambulance parked on the tarmac.

The women were required to take off their underwear for the invasive medical examination but were not told why.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Marise Payne said the Government has formally raised concerns with Qatar.

"The Australian Government is deeply concerned at the unacceptable treatment of some female passengers on a recent Qatar Airways flight at Doha Airport," she said.

"The advice that has been provided indicates that the treatment of the women concerned was offensive, grossly inappropriate, and beyond circumstances in which the women could give free and informed consent.

"The Government has formally registered our serious concerns about this incident with Qatari authorities."

New South Wales Police said the women were required to complete mandatory quarantine, but did receive support.

"Those women completed mandatory quarantine in NSW, during which time they were provided with medical and psychological support by NSW Health," it said in a statement.

"NSW Police referred it to the relevant Commonwealth authority."

The Australian Federal Police said it was aware of the reports and was engaging with DFAT, adding it would be "inappropriate to comment any further".

^You're an ass! And total misogynist from your posts.

I feel bad for the women. That is totally ridiculous what the Qataris had the women do. Middle east eh, I put nothing past them.
I don't know what can be done, but I hope the women sue or the Australian gov't sues. I would have said no, I'm not abiding by that if they asked me to lie down in an ambulance on the tarmac to see if I just had a baby.. like who does that?

The examiners were all female doctors, as you would expect in a Muslim country. Have they found the runaway Mum?

TBH, any media outlet that doesn't open with the cringeworthy 'aussie women stripped' would be an improvement. Or was it only aussie women that were cavity searched?

Given foresight that this will go viral and quite possibly end up in a hefty payout, you would probably abide more than The Dude himself.

I agree with MM on this matter. Even if it was a female doctor who examined the women, it's still an invasion of privacy & must not be done without the person's consent.

At work, we have our yearly medical checkups. The female doc or technician always asks permission whenever they have to touch or examine us - it's the proper & ethical procedure.

Do you examine the "female" prior to allowing them to inspect you. There are now 100's of genders around now, allegedly. Or are OZ/flip "females" beyond suspicion?

Any surprises found in the "females" from the flight inspected ?

The only mitigation I can think for this is that the mother clearly didn't want to be identified, but a delivery under these circumstances presents a serious health risk to the mother.

I'm not saying what they did was right, but how about if this plane was over the middle of the Indian Ocean and the mother went into cardiac arrest?

    It's a difficult one.

Of course they are used to this kind of thing in Qatar, because housemaids are routinely raped and get pregnant, and dump the babies in rubbish bins at shopping malls or the like, out of fear of being jailed for adultery.

    in 8 years time:

What does your mommy and daddy do?

    I don't know, I was found in a toilet.

Definitely a tale for the playground.

shurely they have more CCTVs in that terminal than Chez Sybil. Probably a few suspicious signs of a heavily pregnant woman going in to the bathroom, giving birth, than coming back out again.

It was premature, so she won't look heavily pregnant. But yeah...it would most likely show. And she wouldn't be in and out in three minutes.

I think dumping a baby is far worse than a quick physical examination to try and identify the culprit. However, it could have been carried out with a little more decency. and they should have explained the circumstances.

    Poor kid...
