    Nah the silos contained wheat.

A back-of-an-envelope calculation suggests that the material could've been stacked in bulk bags two deep in a square 40m x 40m so not that big.
    Easily fitted into a warehouse.

Was wondering about the weird "mushroom cloud" explosion..

    According to Google;
In reality the description comparing the explosion to historical footage of atom bombs wasn’t wholly inaccurate. Except it was just speculation. At that stage, and still, there is no confirmed cause of the explosion, although an old Russian or Moldovian shipement, mostly made up of ammonium nitrate, seems to be gathering increasing evidence.

News organisations quickly scrambled through their Rolodex (Google it) under ‘W’ for weapons to find an ‘expert’ they could put on camera to further speculate, but with at least some experience behind their comments even though they’d probably heard about the event, or seen it, on social media as well.
They pointed out that, had the explosion been caused by a nuclear weapon, the blast would have been accompanied by a blinding white flash and a surge of heat. That wasn’t the case. They were also able to add that mushroom clouds are not unique to nuclear bombs but are a result of the compression of humid air, which condenses water and creates the cloud. Now you know.

A phenomenon associated with the compression of air.

If you want to consider another explosion check out the Port Chicago (California) explosion of 1944.
Was it a nuclear test ? Maybe. Probably not.

Seeing as there is already, today, an advertisement on the BTS saying Love Beruit or something similar, I'm saying this was staged?

That isn't a mushroom cloud, that's the initial blast wave.

    This is a Mushroom cloud.

These are blast waves. A lot of them, funnily enough, are accompanied by the phrase "God is great", which should really be "Explosives are great".

Toll has risen as expected, now 135 from 'about 20', though the vids I've seen suggest that as a daytime weekday event they won't get off that lightly.

If this was an accident which I doubt, then it was due to criminal negligence and I expect those responsible will either disappear or go to jail if they're at the lower end of the food chain.

this was in all probability an accident.

the port at beirut is under the control of hezbollah, in an unofficial agreement between them and the government. hezbollah control what enters the country and what leaves it and they will have known exactly what was stored in that warehouse, after all ammonium nitrate is oxygen to organisations such as hezbollah. they would have kept it well guarded too.

a spark from a welders torch, a carelessly thrown cigarette butt from one of the hezbollah goons on duty or an electrical fault could easily have started the fire in the warehouse that preceded the explosion and even though the fire services had tried to extinguish it for over half an hour, it took hold and the rest is history, nor would either of those powers have wanted to detonate 3000 tons of nitrate knowing full well the extent of the carnage that it would cause.

an attack by the israelis, or even an effort by hezbollah in order to discredit the israelis would not have involved starting a fire that could have been extinguished before any real damage was done.

this was an accident caused by raghead sloppiness.

An incident that I'm aware of went like this -

Employee raises safety issue repeatedly and gets told to shut up and go away.
    Incident happens.
Employee gets hauled into management's realm and told to not breathe a word about his previous actions to the regulatory authorities or he'd be pursued by expensive lawyers who'd leave him in possession of underpants and nothing more.

In beautiful Beirut (the Riviera of the Middle East ....) no doubt these things will be decided by tribalism, influence and money.
Expect the guilty to be promoted and the innocent punished.

    What makes ammonium nitrate explode?
Particular sets of circumstances are needed to turn ammonium nitrate from a stable compound into an explosive, without any fuel or external catalyst.
It is classified as an "energetic material", one that produces heat as it decomposes, similar to the way heat is generated by rotting material in a compost heap.
If there is sufficient quantity of ammonium nitrate, it can generate enough heat to catch fire and keep the fire going, without the need for an external catalyst such as a flame.

As it burns, ammonium nitrate goes through chemical changes that lead to the production of oxygen, precisely what a fire needs to keep going and get bigger. As it heats up the chemical can fuse together, creating a seal or plug.
The space behind the plug keeps on being heated and gases form.
Hot gas expands, but, behind the plug, it has nowhere to go. Eventually, the gas will break through the seal and the force of that will trigger an explosion.

    According to Scientific American:

At high enough temperatures, however, ammonium nitrate can violently decompose on its own.
Ammonium nitrate decomposition can be set off if an explosion occurs where it’s stored, if there is an intense fire nearby.

Yes. He's the fucking President. He should be setting the standard.
Perhaps the fact that the world around him is full of lies is a result of the fact that he IS setting the standard. Just the wrong one.

The pseudo objectivists have wrestled the narrative away from the conspiracy side.

Ships carry this stuff around the world for weeks and it sits around in highly populated areas for months. I still find it awfully hard to believe that all of this stuff is at risk of spontaneously blowing the fuck up all by itself.

I just can't believe that. Think of a loaded ship navigating the harbor among cruise ships and fuel tankers.

Is there no smoking , no cooking , no cell phones , no electricity on these ships ? No. It just doesn't make sense that we have these near nuclear time bombs scattered around the world.

Didnt a shitload of this stuff suddenly explode in a chinese city a few years ago causing destruction over a very wide area.

Fair point. But does this also not grey the line between whether it was intentional or an accident ?

Israel has agents inside hezzbo. The middle east likes to give each other bloody noses. This is a bloody nose.

That's also what Scientific American says, it doesn't spontaneously combust, it needs heat (a fire for instance) in order to do that.
