What a brilliant move. Storing fireworks next door to 2,700 tons of Ammonium Nitrate.

    Not true.

Spoke to a old colleague today and this came up.... He said that by itself ammonium nitrate fertiliser is not explosive, it has to be mixed with other substances and undergo further processing in order to become explosive....

Later on I was thinking... If it was explosive why the hell would even a low IQ 3rd worlder allow 2700 tons to be put in a silo??? So of course in its normal form it is not explosive.
The thinking further on, when a fireworks warehouse blows up (as has happened many times before) all the fireworks do not go up simultaneously, no some go off and a few seconds later others go off and the process randomly continues for a while until it burns itself out. If we were taking about a expertly made 500kg ammonium nitrate bomb set off with a blasting cap correctly positioned then I would expect the whole thing to go up at once, but 2700 tons? Surely multiple detonators would be required???
As a side note... if the story of Oklahoma is to be believed who come Tim McVeigh managed to pull off such destruction at the first attempt. It's like some guy who has never rode a horse before deciding to enter a old nag in the Kentucky derby and willing by a mile. It doesn't make sense.... But what does.....???
So did 2700 tons of ammonium nitrate fertiliser suddenly explode?? What about when it was on the ship, surely no port in the world would let such a ship dock with such a dangerous cargo...?
    Lies... Lies.... Lies.... Lies.
None of it makes sense..... Like it ever does.
The very visible pressure wave in a almost perfect sphere gives the game away. This was no accident. It was by design.
    So what caused it?

Or storing toxic waste in cities like Beirut and making a few bucks.
Lebanon is a corrupt shithole with the exception that this time you can not put all the blame on the muzz.

Debatable. Ammonium nitrate is a concentrated source of oxygen - the molecule just has to be broken to release the oxygen, and when combined with a fuel and an ignition source the three requirements of a fire / explosion are present.
    And it's burn baby burn.

There have been plenty of big "Bangs" with this stuff. One of the biggest was in Germany.

But ammonium nitrate has a potentially lethal downside: The compound is considered an oxidizer, meaning at an atomic level, it removes electrons from other substances in a chemical reaction. What that means in a more practical sense is that it increases the burning of fuels by increasing the oxygen that's available to those fuels. To start the reaction, ammonium nitrate must come into contact with an open flame or other ignition source. In the Beirut incident, experts suggest fireworks were involved.

The Oppau explosion occurred on September 21, 1921, when approximately 4,500 tonnes of a mixture of ammonium sulfate and ammonium nitrate fertilizer stored in a tower silo exploded at a BASF plant in Oppau, now part of Ludwigshafen, Germany, killing 500–600 people and injuring about 2,000 more.

So how did the other NH4NO3 explosions occur ?
How would a mad bomber detonate that pile in the port ?

That was a plant where things were being mixed and things could go wrong. Here we are talking about bulk bags of the shit in storage. They wouldnt even carry this shit on ships in these quantities if it was as good as TNT explosive

The other explosions were at plants.

Think about it. If this shit was as good as TNT and could blow the motherfucking shit out of anything when exposed to a cigarette lighter, you would NEVER see 2700 tons of it floating around in the worlds ports

You might be underestimating the level of very widespread sloth and inefficiency in that part of the world.

Conspiracy theories will be far more widespread amongst people unfamiliar with this than amongst those who are.

Ammonium Nitrate in itself is quite stable but when heated up by something else (which can be slow burning diesel) then it provides lots of oxygen which makes it explode.

I agree. They wouldn't have ships floating around the worlds ports with 1400 Oklahoma city bombings on them. Fertilizer cant blow just from exposure to flame.

    Infinum ad absurdum.

These ships were right beside the warehouse. Any investigator with brains would identify them and make sure their alibi checks out

The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear. Officials linked the explosion to some 2,700 tonnes of confiscated ammonium nitrate that were being stored in a warehouse at the port for six years.
6 years of natural decomposition of the A N will have caused the material to heat up enough for it to combust.

It is classified as an "energetic material", one that produces heat as it decomposes, similar to the way heat is generated by rotting material in a compost heap.

It exploded in a silo. Now let me ask the expert what is a silo?
You make the stuff you need to store the stuff. Got it ?
