Yeah but that's sorta the same thing. They are saying that it can spontaneously turn itself into a bomb that just needs a flame.

So these bulk dry ships captained by drunken assholes are one cigarette or stove top away from creating 1400 Oklahoma cities , in any busy port in the world

Israel may target a subject for assassination or mortar bomb a hideout or control centre or take down a cyber network and hezbolla may park a car bomb outside an embassy or diplomats home, but neither of them would set off 3000 tons of explosive, destroy half a city, injuring 5000 and making a quarter of a million people homeless. Unless of course they were already engaged in a full out war, which they are not.

Maybe Hezbolla are a bit pissy with the re-opening of the Hariri death trial that was scheduled to start today.

There was a few other chemicals in there. But yes. Take a bow pseudo objectivists , its looking like you are right. Although I think there's more shoes to drop in this case.

It makes me curious to know how many of these time bombs are scattered around the world right now. Wherever there is ammonium nitrate, there could be an absolute motherfucker of a blast.

Im usually not big on govt regulations but i guess this shit can just blow. Im not a fan of this shit. Imagine a terrorist attack. Fly a plane into the nitrate silo

    Any limeys from Newcastle ?

    • Between 6,000 and 12,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate is stored at Orica's Kooragang plant in Newcastle
    • The plant is within 800m of North Stockton residents and 3km of the Newcastle CBD

    Enjoy

Homes were being evacuated near a stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway west Kamloops, B.C., because a semi-trailer hauling the highly explosive ammonium nitrate caught on fire.

KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Trailers carrying about 40,000 kilograms of highly explosive ammonium nitrate have been hauled away from the scene of a truck fire that forced the evacuation of homes along the Trans-Canada Highway near Kamloops, B.C.

Bankruptcy dissolves all links to subsequent events. Some use it serially, when "problems" appear on the horizon.

Allegedly somebody was improving security, with welding torches, at the request of the port authorities.

The Hizbollah terrorists try to portray themselves as the champions of the Lebanese people (although people started to see through that shit a long time ago).

Blowing up the city would not exactly further that aim.

It's an accident caused by the shitty mismanagement, usual corruption and ineptitude of Arab governments.

Two Thais Injured in Beirut Explosion

Two Thais have been treated for minor injuries sustained in Tuesday’s massive explosion in the Lebanese capital Beirut, the Labour Ministry revealed yesterday.

Veerayut Boonrak, who works as a cook at a Japanese restaurant, suffered head injuries and cuts from broken shards of glass, according to Tierrat Nawamawat, the deputy labour permanent secretary and the ministry’s spokeswoman.

Mr Chanathat Tanyotsak, a jewellery maker, had multiple cuts to his hands from broken glass, she said.

Both men also experienced temporary hearing loss as a result of the blast in the port area of the city which left at least 135 people dead and thousands injured.

Both men were treated in hospital and later discharged, Ms Nawamawat said.

The spokeswoman also said Siri-orn Sriwut, a Thai volunteer for a Lebanese labour information network, had reported the Lebanese government had called on people in Beirut to wear face masks and gloves in the aftermath of the explosion.

It was reported that more than 2,000 metric tonnes of ammonium nitrate had been stored at the port in Beirut where the explosion occurred.

According to the network report, the smell of ammonium nitrate has pervaded across wide areas and people have complained of nose and skin irritations.

The report also said drinking water was becoming scarce and expensive in the city in the aftermath of the massive blast.

There are approximately 170 Thais working in Lebanon, mostly as jewellery makers, masseuses and cooks.

It's a pity that we no longer have such good friends as we had had in e.g. Batista, the South Vietnam generals, Marcos, Sukarno, Schah Reza Pahlavi, Noriega (oops, just his first years), Pinochet, Franco, Idi Amin (also just his first years) and many many others...(they never were to blame for anything)

With more than 3,000 Beirut families now homeless, and more than 150 have officially been declared death as the search for remains over the massive blast site continues, Lebanese President Michel Aoun said Friday that an official government probe would look into the "possibility of external interference", including the possibility that the explosion was triggered by a rocket or a bomb.

"The cause has not been determined yet. There is a possibility of external interference through a rocket or bomb or other act,”
President Michel Aoun said in comments carried by local media and confirmed by his office, per Reuters.

^ They're after his head for the government incompetence that allowed this explosion to happen.

He is clutching at straws trying to shift the blame...

How many would be injured if a similar explosion took place in Bangkok Port.

Hypothetical of course, I'm certain the Thai Port Authorities have no such storage.
