No, but some guns are meant for that.

I see your point about the undemocratic aspect

Maybe you could have a real nasty referendum

Statistics Canada data show that licensed gun owners have a homicide rate of 0.60 per 100,000 licensed gun owners between 1997 and 2010.

Over the same period, the average national homicide rate was 1.85 per 100,000.
Thus, Canadians who have a firearms licence are less than one-third as likely to commit
    murder as other Canadians.

    That's why not all guns are banned . . . another side-track by gun-advocates.

"They're (the gummint) coming to take our guns!!!!" Nope. Keep those that aren't affected by the ban and get money for the ones that are.

The next arguments are that cars cause ore deaths than guns . . . more people die swimming each year . . . and more of the same, without addressing why a few people think they need these types of guns, because it isn't for hunting nor self-protection

Ah, the old NRA adage... but people kill people with them, and it's harder to kill someone without them.

I guess the two million legal gun owners in Canada are doing it wrong then.
I guess the two million legal gun owners will just have to accept that they can't go compensating for their tiny dick with an AR15 then.

Excellent, so they can keep on not killing people with the firearms they have left.

Meanwhile, the ones that do kill people will find it harder to commit mass shootings without assault-style weapons.

Not for long they won't. Trudeau has a very fragile minority, the result of a very narrow victory. He's lucky the pandemic will slow a call to election, which is why he pushed this through with an order in council. Perhaps the next government can undo it with one, since Trudeau opened that door.
