Ok this is some sick shit. Its a NYT video so you have to click on the link. There was 2 shots. One first injures the plane then there's a 30 second maybe? pause, then a kill shot. This is mass murder. And no. Nothing is accidental about it. In my opinion.

New Video Shows 2 Iranian Missiles Striking Doomed Passenger Jet | Zero Hedge

Another theory (I dont particularly buy this theory. It looks like a human reaction time. They could see the 1st shot didn't do it so they aimed up another one)

Because the transponder was turned off, the aircraft, uniquely among the many flights approaching, was identified by the Tor-M1 integrated transport, launch, and radar unit, as hostile. If the crew was taking a break and had the unit set on “auto” then the system would have fired a missile as soon as the “hostile” aircraft was in range, never mind that it was moving very slowly, was on a known international commercial trajectory, and no incoming missiles had been reported by the Iranian system of intercept radars with longer-range vision.

    More analysis from SOTT

It's 2am on January 8th 2020 and our guy is sitting in a Tor-M1 air-defense missile system about 10kms north-west of Imam Khomeini international airport, west of Tehran.

General Soleimani had been buried the day before, and in the last half-hour or so a couple dozen Iranian ballistic missiles had been fired from western Iran at two US bases in Iraq.

The entire Iranian military is on alert and stress levels are particularly high. There's been a lot of chatter about a likely US response to the Iranian missiles and our guy is one of several teams positioned around Tehran tasked with shooting down anything on his radar screen that fits the profile. But as the hours pass without incident, he starts to doubt he'll see any action - at least, not tonight.

By 6am the only thing he can report having seen on his radar screen are each of the 9 scheduled flights that departed the nearby airport that night. He watched them take normal flight paths off the northwest runway, climb into the clear night sky and then veer north or northeast. Since the Tor-M1 system he is operating is fitted with IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) functionality, he could even see their call signs. The second-to-last one was Qatar Airways Flight QR8408 heading for Hong Kong.

The last flight that night would be Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 heading for Kiev. It departed one hour late at 6.12am, but followed the exact same initial flight path as the previous flights. As it climbed and reached 4,600ft above ground level, the plane's transponder suddenly stopped working at about 6.14am, 2 minutes or so after take off. The plane then made a sharp right turn heading east and turning back around towards Tehran city, traveling another 15-20kms over 4 minutes before crashing into an area near a football field and exploding on impact.

For some as yet unknown reason, our guy had suddenly become convinced that the Boeing 737 was an 'enemy target'. As per protocol, he had requested authorization to launch, but his superiors could not be reached because of 'some problem with the communication network'. Again according to protocol, he had a 10-second window in which to decide whether to launch or not. Still convinced the 737 was a cruise missile or enemy aircraft, he launched the two missiles that sealed the fate of the 178 people on board.

The Iranian government and military has taken full responsibility for the shooting down of Flight 752, but no one has yet explained why a presumably well-trained missile system operator, having watched 9 commercial airliners fly past him that night, was so convinced that the 10th one was an enemy target that he made a decision - by himself - to shoot it down.

    It follows that ultimately Iran decided to take on a false accountability for two simple but compelling reasons;

    1) the international institutions and Western press will not differentiate anything.

    2) Western cells operating within Iran to point of bringing down Flight 752 would be a serious black eye to the domestic perception of Iranian security, weakening the regime in the public perception. Falsely swallowing responsibility is the path of least immediate damage to the Iranian governing institution, both internally and externally.

The stupidity on the Western side in this is, yeah, you hit the ayatollahs below the belt and got away with it, but you also likely convinced them there can never be a genuine détente with Western institutions, ever.

Is something like this what happened? Lots of 'smoke to clear' yet in emerging picture but the entire business just goes on smelling wrong.

If Iran claimed that this was a conspiracy that brought down the jet, Harry would call them lying scum. But the Iranian state just came out and admitted that this was an accident.

Harry believes the Iranian govt is honest, upstanding and ethical. Harry believes that Iran admitted this on moral and ethical grounds.

Harry believes that there are points for honesty in great power war.

Harry also believes that a frontal attack from a sovereign military, on a US military base, the first since WW2- is not a big deal and not fertile ground for an empire to do dirty work.

^ Swallowing pride and dealing with reality is something the US and the UK need to learn.

Iran, for all its faults, has shown more integrity than both the US and UK combined.

Live with that instead of turning to the tin hat brigade...

My reactions to these used to be the exact same. I used to shred most conspiracy theories. I hated them. I could not fathom what the reason behind them would be so I didn't think I needed to get to the details. I just flat out disbelieved them

There is a REASON why air space doesn't get closed even when there's light military conflict going on. Because the CHANCES of airliners being hit by projectiles is very F'ing small !

NATO and Serbia were sniping at each other, day and night, air force versus anti aircraft fire from the ground, for 70 days ! Without incident.

This video doesn't show the 23 TWENTY THREE second pause before the 2nd missile. Yet the whole claim to fame from the missile operator was that he needed to decide in 10 seconds.

We had the 1st gulf war in the 90's. Huge military buildup. Saddam Hussein filled the skies with flack. We had the second Iraq war, Libya, Syria ect ect ect. No incidents. NOTHING.

Here's the second video again Troy. Watch it and tell me to my face that this was an accident. (this fucking link doesnt show the pause. Fuck)

Is there a link for this?
Where was the Iranian equivalent of Vasily Arkhipov, the Russian who didn't fire his missiles during a false positive when the Cuban missile crisis was near it's zenith.

^^ I stated quite early on in this thread (#36) that the standard technique is to fire two missiles. An enemy fighter will lose a lot of excess energy evading the first and becomes a sitting duck for the second. So, no surprise to see my expectations realised.

Lavrov: There were F-35s in the air in the Iranian border when Iran downed airliner

    January 17, 2020

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday that Iran's accidental shooting down of a Ukrainian airliner on January 8 occurred at a time when Tehran was spooked by reports of advanced U.S. stealth fighters in the area.

"There were at least six (U.S.) F-35 fighters in the air in the Iranian border area (at the time). This information has yet to be verified, but I'd like to underline the edginess that always accompanies such situations," Lavrov said, according to the New York Times.

Lavrov, speaking at his annual news conference in Moscow, called the incident a human error and said he was not trying to excuse anyone for what happened.

But he said it was important to understand the context and that the incident had occurred hours after an Iranian missile attack on U.S. bases in Iraq, when Iranian forces were braced for some kind of U.S. military retaliation.

"There is information that the Iranians were expecting another attack from the United States after the strike but did not know what form it might take," said Lavrov.

Look you fucking moron, Iran shot it down because they thought it was a US military aircraft of some kind.

THAT was the accidental part, you window-licking retard.

Do you actually listen to the voices in your head or just repeat the drivel they tell you?

Sure. Its procedural to shoot in bursts. But that's not what fucking happened here. The 2nd shot wasn't a burst shot.

Oh hey the plane is turning around. That's not what we had in mind here. Lets shoot again. They shoot again.

Look at this. They are just fucking shooting parallel with the runway. Exactly where 9 planes were taking off before.

The flight recorders from the airliner which was accidentally shot down by Iranian forces will be sent to Ukraine, an Iranian official has said.

Listen you utter arsehole prick. Both sides of this whole incident from DAY ONE, from the assassination to the retaliation HAVE OPENLY LIED ABOUT every confluence of events in this case. EVERY. FUCKING. TIME.

LOOK. Yet when it comes to this plane shooting, YOU think BOTH of these lying cocksuckers are telling the truth. This one time ! And its that simple. US "hey you did that" Iran "oh yes. We did. Sorry" You are Troy with your pseudo objectivity. Oh yes Troy. Nothing to see here. Just an accident

Troy's pseudo objectivity is so seductive to anyone who's paid no attention to the events leading up to the airline shoot down. And the claims by the 2 parties involved.

You dont even know how to debate you sack of fuck. If you did, you'd post links and evidence that the 2 parties involved, Iran and Seppoland, are credible actors who should be taken at their word.
From what I can see, not one of them has made a claim in this case that wasn't lies. By their own admission.
