They are due to make an attempt at retrieving six bodies within hours.

I'm not sure it's worth risk tbh. The place should be permanently off limits now.

Tragic, yes. But perhaps better than 3 of them passing and 1 parent or child surviving...imho.

New Zealand volcano: Police name two people whose bodies still not found after White Island eruption

An Australian teenager and a tour guide from New Zealand are the two people whose bodies have still not been found after last week's volcanic eruption on White Island.

Police believe the remains of Winona Langford, 17, from Sydney, and Hayden Marshall-Inman, 40, are in the waters around the island, but officials called off a search because storms were forecast.

Ms Langford's parents, Anthony and Kristine Langford, also died in the eruption, while her brother, Jesse, is being treated for severe burns in hospital in Sydney.

At least 18 people were killed in the eruption, and police have completed the identification of the victims.

The names of three other people who died in the eruption have been released: they are Richard Elzer, 32, and Julie Richards, 47 - both from Australia - and a US citizen based in Sydney, 49-year-old Barbara Hollander.

"I don't think any one of us can begin to imagine what those families are facing in the coming weeks and months," said Australia's Foreign Minister, Marise Payne.

"Here in places like Auckland, in Sydney, we're surrounded by Christmas and celebration, but they face tragedy and devastation.

"Our hearts and thoughts are with them every step of the way."

There were 47 people on White Island when the eruption happened on 9 December: 24 were Australian citizens and four others were living there.

Hospitals in both Australia and New Zealand are treating the survivors.

Specialist medical teams from Britain, Australia and the United States have been assisting in the rescue effort.

Military teams recovered six bodies on Friday, but the volcano is at risk of erupting again, and has been venting mud and steam.

I think they've given up on finding the last 2 bodies. If they haven't dissolved the sharks and crabs will have taken care of them by now.
