Out of every disaster there is a huge winner.

That is the coonts who collect donations from the punting public to distribute to the poor fukos who have lost their shit.

Been like that forever and will be like that forever.

    Parasites leaching from unfortunate fukers.

261 scientists, experts in climate, fire and weather science, have sent an open letter to the Aust Govt. outlining the increasing effects of climate change on the bush fires and calling for action:

"Scientists have been warning policy makers for decades that climate change would worsen Australia's fire risk, and yet those warnings have been ignored."

"Australia has near-to the highest greenhouse gas emissions per person of any country. We need to pull our weight in reducing our emissions, and influence the rest of the world to take urgent and co-ordinated action. Any other policy is window dressing."

"Scientific evidence unequivocally links human-caused climate change to the increasing risk of frequent and severe bushfires in the Australian landscape,"

Meanwhile B. Azza, aged 60+ of QLD., after spending 10 min Googling: 'Aww nah I don't think climate change is real aye'.

But part of the solution to bush fires will be regular burn-offs, adding to the CO2 in the atmosphere.

    How do you reconcile that?

Don't need to reconcile it, it's part of the solution as you say, always has been. Controlled burns are a fraction of the CO2 output of the out of control wildfires that have happened.

Don't tell me you buy that whole 'the Greens stopped the burn offs' bullshit-slash-fake news. That dribble is for the benefit of brainless Boomers like twerry.

Apparently a lot of people do.
But some people think they're insightful for looking ahead in a worrying manner at the next hundred years.

And yet the pendulum that has swung since the beginning of time still swings at a frequency of millennia, seemingly unconcerned with the issues that mankind frets about over its short lifespan of less than a single century.
Some people think it don't, but it be.

^ Scientists call on MPs to urgently reduce Australia's emissions amid bushfire crisis | Australia news | The Guardian

    ---

Today, China is the world’s largest CO2 emitter – accounting for more than one-quarter of emissions. This is followed by the USA (15%); EU-28 (10%); India (7%); and Russia (5%).

Australia releasing 1.07% of the world's greenhouse gases.
So even if every Australian reduced their carbon footprint by 20%, it would have a near naught reduction contribution to the production of the world's greenhouse gases.

Australia produces and exports a lot of coal.
Now, presuming that coal fired power stations around the world are not/could not be shut down over night, using Australia black coal is friendlier to the environment then using the brown coal alternative.

    Fact check

    • The claim: Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says Australia exports "by and large" cleaner coal than other countries.
    • The verdict: Experts say Australian export coal is of a higher quality on average compared with other countries, meaning less is needed to generate the same amount of energy. This leads to lower carbon emissions by weight compared with coal from other countries. Mr Turnbull's claim checks out.

    ---

ME? I drive an LPG car, a waste product, previously burnt as part of the conversion of crude into Petrol/Gas
Have a Solar Generation installation which generates about 3/4's of our home power needs.
More when the old hot water system gives up the ghost and it gets replaced with a Solar HW

The LPG car is going soon, but off-set when the Solar HW system comes.

I don't discuss climate change, talking points are useless unless you want to look good on social media, or sound impressive around the BBQ.
I get back to composting, growing food locally, combining my tasks so that I only do 1 drive, not several trips, set the HW system to the lowest thermostat setting, double roof insulation, thermostatically controlled ceiling/attic cooling ... bla bla

It was 44 degrees today in Perth same as it was back in 1997.

No one was bitching on about climate change then ?

    Perth:
    Annual mean maximum temperature for 1997 = 24.4 °C
    Annual mean maximum temperature for 2019 = 25.7 °C

    Days above 35:
    1997 - 23
    2019 - 34

    The thing is though,

Perth has always been so God dam hot in Summer from the get go no one's notices any difference from year to year.

    It's just plain fuking hot.

Horrible place for three months of the year but great rest of the year.

Boomers frequently have issues distinguishing between climate and weather.

It's one of the factors in their remaining so stoically and profoundly ignorant.

Australia bushfires leave three dead, at least 150 homes lost-img_3491-jpg

Bit of a bushfire burning uncontrolled in Adelaide Hills today. Mercury hit 42C. Photo taken outside my house 30km's away - can smell it clearly. Closer to Sabang than me but shouldn't reach him.

Yes, I woke up from my siesta to the sweet smell of burning eucalypt- not unusual at this time of year. It's a fair way from here though.
Some cnut deliberately left one of those portable gas burners alight in bushland just up the road, near Chain of Ponds reservoir. I hope they get the bastard.

I reconcile it by saying you obviously don't know how to plough a firebreak.
